He's been nuts for years. I can't listen to him for more than ten minutes before I'm reaching for the buttons.
Someone has gone off his medication...
I quit listening to him about three years ago. He's really gone over the edge. I saw him at one of his "Paul Revere" events a few years ago, and he was unlistenable. His guest speakers were great, then he came on, and just rambled. He would say whatever popped into his head, while consuming glasses of vodka. People were getting up and walking out, and he mocked them. That was pretty much it for me.
Now I'll be tagged a "hater", and accused of not being able to handle the truth - it's happened before.
I am a Savage fan, though I can see how he annoys alot of people.
You must understand by now that Savage is a nay sayer. He isn't a positive person. He really only can get excited when he's against something.
Tune him out whenever he goes off on one of his liberal tirades.
Michael Savage has been nuts for years. I listened to his program on Sept 10th, 2001 and the whole time he was railing against Bush for his democratic-like tendicies.
On September 12th, he was 100% for Bush, but as time dragged on he has returned to his Bush Bashing for Dubya not being conservative enough.
Bu8t found I just couldn't take any more of Savavge's CRAP.
What is he anyway and who does he think he is? God?
I don't THINK so!
I can't stand that creep.
You just now noticed? ;)
He's always been a horse's ass. He thinks he's being fair, but really he's just displaying his horse's assedness.
He leaps into the deep end, gets out of the pool and then does the same thing over and over again. That's his schtick.
He can be cathartic when he rampages on libs, and occasionally nicely philosophical but don't expect consistency or rhetorical sobriety or even sanity.
I can only take listening to him anymore for about 30 minutes a month, but I usually enjoy it.
The Vodka thing makes sense and clears up plenty.
Remember when Howard Cosell started going downhill? Same elixir.
Dasher
Sorry but you are both wrong on that count. Savage has been nuts right out of the starting gate, right from the get-go.
I don't listen to him anymore because his operating philosophy is based on his assumption (somewhat like O'Reilly) that if he says something then it must be true. That is his test. Add to this his silly idea that being controversial is the key to getting a large audience. When you put these two key Savage attributes together what you get is someone who will say anything. There is no core philosophy behind his views. If there were, then he wouldn't be so unpredictable would he?
Why anyone would waste their time listening to him is beyond me.
I recommend the following good guys (in no particular order):
1. Laura Ingraham (yes, I know she is not a guy)
2. Michael Medved
3. Hugh Hewitt
4. Sean Hannity
5. Rush
6. Dennis Prager
7. Larry Elder
I'm sure there are others but if you listen to these guys you won't have time to waste on an idiot like Michael Savage.
bump
I agree, yet I still listen to him because he's a hoot and because of the occasional gem.
I think I know precicely why we are in Iraq and his opinion on the situation simply does not match what I am hearing directly from people who are there.
Mssr Savage believes this because he does not fundamentally understand why we are there or what we are doing there.
I present his ranting about how we were 6 months late in taking Fallujah as exhibit "A".
I don't remember Cosell other than knowing who he was, so can't recall him going downhill. Savage was pacing the stage with a glass of clear liquid in his hand, with a young woman assistant keeping it full for him. I heard Savage saying on a later program that his mind got clearer and clearer that evening as he drank and spoke. Mmm Hmm. Sure it did, Mike. I'm sure that's why people were getting up and walking out - they just couldn't handle all of that clarity!
