Mellencamp To Perform On Thanksgiving--Contact NFL and CBS

Action Items

John Cougar Mellencamp, anti-American musician and has-been, will be performing at halftime of the Colts/Lions NFL Thanksgiving Day football game.  If you agree that Mellencamp does not deserve this honor and that his singing at an NFL halftime show while you have a full belly may lead to the entire family regurgitating grandma's turkey, then contact the NFL and CBS and ask them to please cancel his performance.

According to John Cougar Mellonhead:   "George W. Bush has lied to us, failed to keep our own borders secure, entered a war under false pretense, endangered lives and created financial chaos."

Mellencamp will perform for the NFL and the United Way on Nov. 25. He'll sing "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A." and his new single, "Walk Tall."

My comments to both (feel free to borrow)

Dear NFL and CBS:

It has recently come to my attention that John Cougar Mellencamp, the anti-American musician and has-been, will be performing at halftime of the Colts/Lions NFL Thanksgiving Day football game.  Mellencamp does not deserve this honor and I will be sure to NOT TUNE IN to CBS at all that day unless you cancel his performance.  His actions and comments concerning America, the War on Terror, and President Bush are offensive to me as a patriot and I will not support any endeavor with which his name is attached.

God Bless America!

The NFL is still being naive. I doubt if they were immediately responsible for this. It's the folks at network TV and the advertising agencies.

But the NFL had better lean on the TV folks to cut this stuff out, or they will be held responsible.

He's still fairly popular, inspite of it all he still has an image as an all-American guy, and he's from Indiana (the Colts are playing in Detroit today), get over it. This attempt to make political statements into some sort of scarlett letter is assinine and makes us look like provintial morons. People are allowed to speak honestly, he honestly thinks Bush lied, he's wrong but that's what he thinks. He's moved on, so should you, and neither CBS nor the NFL should ban people just because they campaigned for the guy that lost the election. While freedom of speech include rebuttal this is getting past ridiculous.

This line is the full monty slap at the Red Nation: "So be careful of those killing in Jesus's name He don't believe in killing at all." It is because of the killing that we have to cut out the cancer. I suppose the surgeon is supposed to be sent up on murder charges if his surgery fails to save the patient's life.

Did Johnny Cougar actually sing that? I see he's done a duet with Travis Tritt, called 'What Say You?' about tolerance of political views but clearly Johnny Cougar doesn't have any of that. What a scum. What do you expect from a league that gave us the Timberlake-Janet Jackson fiasco?
