OK HERES MY TAKE ON THIS WHOLE STORY. OK THINK ABOUT IT! YOUR IN IRAQ. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF TERRORIST PRETENDING TO SURRENDER BY WAVING WHITE FLAGS THEN OPENING FIRE ON TROOPS. YOU HAVE HEARD REPORTS OF DEAD BODIES BEING ARMED WITH EXPLOSIVES AND EXPLODING AND KILLING TROOPS. AND JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM WHERE YOU ARE AN EXPOLISIVE JUST WENT OFF ON SOME DEAD BODIES! AND ON TOP OF THIS YOU WERE SHOT IN THE FACE EARLIER IN THE DAY! SO YOUR WALKING INTO THIS MOSQUE AND HERE ARE ALL OF THESE BODIES ON THE FLOOR AND THERES ONE GUY SITTING UP LEANING AGAINST THE WALL. HES STILL BREATHING! YOU SEE HIS HEAD START TO LIFT UP OFF OF HIS SHOULDER. HIS RIGHT HAND IS LAYING UNDER A BODY YOU CANT SEE IT. YOU HONESTLY IN YOUR MIND HAVE NO IDEA WEATHER THIS GUY IS ARMED OR NOT! KNOWING ALL THESE THINGS AND BEING AT WAR WHAT THE HELL DO YOU DO?! ILL TELL YOU WHAT I DO I SHOOT THE GUY IN THE F'N HEAD! ALL THIS GARBAGE TALK OF THIS TROOP SHOOTING SOMEONE UNARMED ISNT RIGHT! I SAY TO YOU HOW IN THE WORLD WAS THE TROOP SUPPOSED TO KNOW THIS? AND WHAT WOULD HAVE YOU EXPECTED HIM TO DO? The images were set to inflame critics of the handling of the war in Iraq and the behaviour of US units engaged in the fighting.
Pictures aired on TV networks showed a man slumped on the floor of a mosque, where rebels had earlier been shooting at US troops.
When the troops realised the man was not dead, one opened fire, hitting him in the head at close range. The wounded man was half-sitting against the wall, wearing an orange headscarf.
Before the troops entered the mosque, one is heard saying: "We have got two in there."
Another asks: "Did you shoot them? Did they have any weapons on them?"
As the cameraman follows the marines inside, one is heard to say: "These are the two wounded that they never picked up."
There is shouting among the marines and then one opens fire. At that point news channels, including CNN, blacked out the image.
The marines shown in the footage, which was filmed on Saturday, were from the Third Battalion of the First Marine Regiment. According to reports in the US, the marines had come under fire last Thursday from the mosque shown in the footage.
Marines returned fire with tanks and machine guns. When they went into the mosque on the same day they found 10 fighters dead and five wounded.
They pulled out of the mosque, but saw activity in the building the following day.
When they went in for a second time they saw the man slumped against the wall.
One marine is heard shouting: "He’s faking he’s dead."
There was another shout: "He’s breathing."
Gunfire rang out, and one marine said: "He’s dead now."
Pentagon officials said the marine who fired had been taken off the battlefield.
It also emerged that the marine in question had been shot and wounded the day before the incident in the mosque.
Military officials said a rebel tactic was to draw US soldiers in by pretending to be dead and then opening fire.
John Kerry got a medal for it.
Terrorists are not protected by the Geneva Convention
I thought Bush said this was war???? If so why is there any question???? Bush better step up on this one, dont hang back and hide in the Whitehouse.
Totally justified and completely enjoyable. Makes a nice departure from the typical MSM beheading or panties on moselm heads video tripe.
These are not cops on the beat, these men are at war in the heat of combat. Nerves are on edge attitude has been shifted into self preservation. This Marine made the call, that's it.
No stupid ass TV camera crew has anything to say about anything and no NBC prodecers have anything to say about it. Give them a weapon and send them into combat and watch their decesions as the shift into self preservation and learn to survive in mortal combat.
These news people seem to think that the enemies of the US
are allowed to play by different rules. There has been no outrage at their using children and women as shields. There are plenty of other violations of conduct by our enemies that we will bever know.
This man made the call, it was a good call. The reason it was a good call is that he is still alive and so is the News crew that may have been killed.
Not for shooting an unarmed, surrendered man. The VC had not surrendered, and was carrying a rocket launcher.
The VC was running away because his weapon jammed/misfired, which is basically unarmed. From what I have read anyway.
These people are dangewrous as long as they are alive. How long would it take for the terrorist to pull a string that would ignite some of the NY Slimes missing plastic explosives.
These terrorists threw the Geneva Convention out the window on day 1 therefore we are not required to uphold it either in this war against them. - yet we still do!
Plus, marines have been killed by guys 'unarmed and injured' like this and this marine had lost some buds this way AND was shot in the face the day before! This is no video game - it's life or death at the most unpredictable level in the history of war !!!

It may be 'basically unarmed', but if you're carrying a weapon in combat, expect to be dealt with. An armed combatant is a armed combatant, regarless of whether or not the weapon happens to malfuntion in the middle of the fight. You're still considered armed until you drop it.
Not to mention these people firing from mosques, anyone question that action? Let them (Marines) do their damn jobs, get Kevvy the Rebel Loving Reporter out of there. Who is this guy anyway? Shoot, throw a bandanna on his head and toss him in the heap. They pulled that Marine from duty pending this BS. You all know the risks, what's the chance this guy was next to one of the 38 souls we've lost in this offensive? Take no chances with the rebels. You can't apply our western philosophy of fighting fair to a midieval culture that encourages dismantling people and burning their bodies. If you don't believe that could come out of the "religion of peace", I encourage you to nose around prophetofdoom.net. The man is not a bigot, he did his homework and lived in it for years. I think it may enlighten anyone who doesn't understand the real enemy we face.

There seems to be no rules in this war started by the terrorists. So our troops must take no chances with these heinous monsters.
