"That could happen if those priests publicly proclaimed their actions were not sinful. Let me know when that happens."

No, that should have happened because they betrayed the trust of their flock and took advantage of innocent boys. All while knowing that the Church would pay-off the families and transfer the priests to start their crimes in another location. Until the church comes to grips with the systematic criminal activity and cover-up of that activity perpetrated against innocent kids I can't hold much weight behind who they choose to excommunicate.

Your reply shows you know nothing about canon law.

I can't hold much weight behind who they choose to excommunicate.

Who cares?

You probably think women who have had abortions and now realize that it was wrong should shut up too, because after all they are just sinners and have no credibility.

I know the difference between right and wrong and raping boys is wrong!

Agreed. I'm certain the reason he has been "Catholic" as of late is to get as many northern swing-state votes as possible.

But, I suspect Kerry will do what he does best, and ignore the excommunication and keep on talking..

Or, maybe he will proclaim the Vatican is part of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

Yes, he can ignore and keep on potificating, however, his excommunication will undoubtedly be brought up as an issue which speaks to the integrity of his (lack of) core beliefs. One more nail.

Not vast right wing conspiracy, just that Bush is giving them favors to garner their support. Or blackmail! That's it. Bush is blackmailing the Vatican to excommunicate Kerry. They used a Canon lawyer who is a consultant to CDF in Los Angeles to perpetrate this so no one would be the wiser. Since at FR we are smarter than the average bear and 96.8 percent of the population we have figured this out. Oh, and the parish priests are going to stuff the ballot boxes in all of the public schools and Baptist churches that are polling places and steal the election. Does that about cover it? This will be in KittyLitter's next book.

/sarcasm off

ahh, yes.. Its all so clear to me now..
Where is my tin foil pyramid hat when I need it ?? ;)

But, In all seriousness,Kamp Kerry has already started down the 'ignore it' path with this remark from Meehan , "Kerry's a Catholic who attends Mass regularly and receives communion. That explains his standing in the church."

They never even got a chance to pull an about face. Apparently, they want to say they never really replied, at all.

Told you it wasn't what the present institutional church does. That's the shame of it. And contrary to - that guy - and what he said, it can mean auto-excommunication for just publicly procuring an abortion. So the question is, does encouraging public policy toward that end, right up to voting AGAINST a ban on 'partial birth' abortion, amount to auto-excommunication?
