Thanks for the ping to the notes thread. I also want to make sure everyone has a chance to see this thread from the Swiftvets.com site. Read what NavyChief has to say about Kerry!

ALL illegal...you can easily hide notes inside a pen as well. They weren't allowed to bring anything with them. Anything they wanted at the podium (ie pen/pencil, paper) they had to turn over to the commission and the commission would then approve/deny. If approved, THEY placed it on the podium. This guy is going down.
I understand now that I've read more about the rules and whatnot. It seems this could have potential to start running soon. Many thanks to you and the FreeRepublic. :) Cheers! :)

Kerry pulls note cards out of his pockets and then looks down at them, then sets them on the podium. The breaking of the rules was just blatant, in your face, in front of millions of viewers. And no one in the media mentioned it! How could those who were well-aware of the rules not call him on it?
To: N8VTXNinWV
I should clarify... folds up paper AFTER closing remarks... The axis of weasel is a cheater for sure by pulling out cheat sheet before debate and folding up AFTER closing remarks!

blank paper & writing utensils were on the podiums for candidates to use as they were NOT to bring their own notes.

Did you zoom the video to full screen? Don't know for sure, but it certainly looks like paper.

At one point, Kerry says he's not going to go into detail on something because it'll be discussed later.
Correct.
LEHRER: Good evening, Mr. President, Senator Kerry.
As determined by a coin toss, the first question goes to you, Senator Kerry. You have two minutes.
Do you believe you could do a better job than President Bush in preventing another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States?
KERRY: Yes, I do.
But before I answer further, let me thank you for moderating. I want to thank the University of Miami for hosting us. And I know the president will join me in welcoming all of Florida to this debate. You've been through the roughest weeks anybody could imagine. Our hearts go out to you. And we admire your pluck and perseverance.
I can make American safer than President Bush has made us.
And I believe President Bush and I both love our country equally. But we just have a different set of convictions about how you make America safe.
I believe America is safest and strongest when we are leading the world and we are leading strong alliances.
I'll never give a veto to any country over our security. But I also know how to lead those alliances.
This president has left them in shatters across the globe, and we're now 90 percent of the casualties in Iraq and 90 percent of the costs.
I think that's wrong, and I think we can do better.
I have a better plan for homeland security. I have a better plan to be able to fight the war on terror by strengthening our military, strengthening our intelligence, by going after the financing more authoritatively, by doing what we need to do to rebuild the alliances, by reaching out to the Muslim world, which the president has almost not done, and beginning to isolate the radical Islamic Muslims, not have them isolate the United States of America.
I know I can do a better job in Iraq. I have a plan to have a summit with all of the allies, something this president has not yet achieved, not yet been able to do to bring people to the table.
We can do a better job of training the Iraqi forces to defend themselves, and I know that we can do a better job of preparing for elections.
All of these, and especially homeland security, which we'll talk about a little bit later.
LEHRER: Mr. President, you have a 90-second rebuttal.

Dear MamaLucci,
If it was his favorite fountain pen, folks will consider it petty to bring it up.
If it turns out to have been notes, folks will mark him a cheater.

It's called turning a blind eye. The MSM wants Bush to lose and they don't care if Kerry cheated.
Getting someone to even look at the tape close enough and make a fair statement is going be hard enough. I mean look how long the MSM tried to let Rathergate go. Even yesterday, Blowchow and Petah' are out there accusing us FREEPERs and anyone in the "PJ Brigade" of being like terrorists.
I hope that the hi-res video of the podium angle shows that these are note cards, plain and simple. Also, it would be nice to see the C-SPAN "Podium Watch" angle to see if Kerry shuffles the cards at any point (you know, moves them around, flips through them, etc).

To: deadhead
Dear deadhead,
I've looked at three different videos, the first, which I guess is from C-SPAN, one from a Boston location, and the one at the Wash Post. Full screen, all of them.
If you made me guess, I'd guess it was a piece of paper.
But frankly, having been looking at this since this morning, when it was first on INDCJournal, I can't tell you that I can really discern. It might be a pen.
The telling thing is what he does when he gets the item to the podium. His actions seem more like he's unfolding and smoothing a piece of paper.
BUT!! I've replayed it half a dozen times and asked, could he be unscrewing the top off a fountain pen? Yep, I can see that. Especially since immediately after he finishes the unfolding/unscrewing motion, there is a pen in his right hand.
So, to me, it's inconclusive. Maybe it's a pen. Maybe it's a piece of paper.
Without fairly certain knowledge, it isn't much of an issue.
