Jim Baker should begin from a position of NO debates.
Why? Kerry is simply not qualified to be president. First of all, he has virtually ZERO executive/leadership/management experience. Only his two years as LIEUTENANT Governer of Taxachusetts qualifies.
His Senate Experience is a zero. He sponsored no bills; coasted; and demonstrated no leadership. This is Kerry's opinion of his own Senate experience as well. He spent not 70 seconds but just 70 WORDS on his entire 2-decade senate career in his acceptance speech.
In 1993, IBM hired Lou Gerstner as CEO. He did not have a technical background but his executive background was huge - AMEX, Nabisco, McKinsey&Co....
If George W. Bush wanted to be CEO at IBM some day, he would be a shoe-in for his EXECUTIVE experience as 2-time governer of a huge state and President of the USA qualifies him. Kerry's resume would be ejected immediately.
Same goes for Edwards - just a trial lawyer with no executive experience. Cheney has run a multi-billion multinational corporation AND been Sec of Defense for 4 years on top of being VP. If Edwards were trying to get an interview with Cheney in a corporate setting, it wouldn't happen for he is not qualified enough for Cheney to waste his time.....
Lack of qualifications on the Democrat ticket is alarming. Kerry's junior officer experience (according to Wes Clark) and his 4 month stint where he gamed the system are not relevant.
Welcome to Free Republic.
If he sweats like he did in his acceptance speech at the DNC, then it will seem like it's raining, LOL.
No I'm not, you're wrong. The history of it is solid and not wrong. This is an unneccessary risk for Dubya. But it seems we're all smarter than our fathers and grandfathers nowadays.
I agree. W has nothing to fear from this "master debater." Whenever the American public sees Kerry, we gain votes.
I think there should be debates - but I'm also wondering if the media, having taken hits lately, will use them as a forum to get back -
I would hope everyone is prepared - the left takes things way too personal and fires back accordingly. Sewage spillage considered possible in my opinion.
If the Pres. does not debate, he will appear to be weak. His image is that of a strong leader. Strong leaders are not afraid to state their positions. Strong leaders are open to questions about their plans, so that they may better explain them and how their plans will affect the American people.
The 'history' of debates is mute in this situation. We are in the age of the 24 hour TV news cycle. No such thing existed in your granfather's or father's time.
Once he takes a stand on Iraq the Deaniacs flee to vote Nader or they stay home. Kerry is toast.
Sorry, can't do it. Bush would be portrayed as a coward, and rightly so, IMHO. I don't believe for a moment that we wouldn't say that of Kerry if he was still holding his pre-convention lead.
I agree 100%, I have been harping these same issues. But those issues do not come into play.
He would have had to be tried in a Military Court of law, for the UMCJ violations, and in a Federal Court of law for the USC 14adm.artical3. clause, AND BE FOUND GUILTY.
In which case, he at this point would be pulling a chain and ball while he walks around at Leavenworth, or resting in the grave after have been shot or hanged based on form of punishment sited in those UMCJ articles.
Big John Kerry, is innocent until proven guilty in the proper courts of law dealing with those type alleged crimes against the United States of America.
The government of the United States has given him "permission to come aboard", and practice the craft of US Senator. Nothing we an do about it. I know he commited war crimes but in the eyes of the government he did not.
Now the real sickening part. If for some reasons he is elected president of the United States. We cannot do anything to un-seat him! Due to current world conditions, and imagine having Big John Edwards the famed trial lawyer for the down trodden take the oath to replace him!
Where screwed as a nation either way.
You folks that do believe in a rightous God that controls all things, better start laying prostrate on your bellies and ask for HIS tender, loving, and JUST mercies in who he would have lead this great land. And I am not trying to be cute or clever on this one!
Where did you get those position papers? Cool!
I think his stand on Iraq might be similar to Dean's. "Let's cut and run because it was a bad idea in the first place."
Of course if he does that he loses the other half of his base, so it will be interesting to watch.
Remember, the trolls think they are smarter than everyone eles, it's part of the mental illness.
Even better: a 24-hour mic on Teresa, whose tantrums and outbursts of illogic are always endorsed by Kerry.
Bush should debate Kerry, but he should make sure the panel is not stacked with left-wing journalists. We deserve to have an equal number of well known conservatives asking questions, otherwise the debate is centered around what the Democrats consider important.
Should Bush's people not require this, they should be looking for work elsewhere!
I agree. I've been keeping an eye on this one. Haven't noticed anything too outrageous yet, but I haven't seen everything he's posted, either.
Waitin' and watchin'!
The thread title is a dead giveaway. I'd stake my troll picking reputation on this clown.
You may be right. I'll be watching more carefully. Some of them ARE getting quite sophisticated.
EggsAckley wrote a few threads up........
"Welcome to Free Republic."
Tnank you, I am glad to come aboard. Nice site, mostly well bred people with some clue as to what goes on, and who state their case without offense to others.
Semper Fidelis, to all. Yea, my nephew is currently serving in Iraq as a United States Marine. Lord willing he will be returning soon to our blessed shores.
So you can see I have a big stake in the outcome of this election. Do I want my dear nephew serving under an administration that wants to take care of our military personel, and within the constraints of common sense look out for them, or do I want to hand the government over to a person that committed treason and cared less about the safety of his "hmmmmmm brother's in arms", and really for other then political expediancy cares little for our men/women in uniform based on his actions in the past. Four months? Not only that, obviouse to us all is how the screaming liberals and Demos have been trashing our plans in Iraq. How does this make those that have to hang their hides out each day on patrols and be involved in horrible fire fights etc. feel? Kerry is doing the same thing he did
between 1968 and 1973 and somewhat afterwards! He is planting doubt and shame into the minds of Americans while our country tries to make a better world.
So I have a personal stake in who becomes President for at least the next four years on this single issue not to mentioned the over all set of issues involved.
take care and Semper Fidelis,
George
