***Derelection Of Duty: The Networks Support The Democrats By Not Carrying The President Tonight***
Fox News | Stardate: 0405.24

Posted on 05/24/2004 5:25:51 AM PDT by The Wizard

I just heard that the networks are making an "in kind" donation to the Kerry Campaign by Not carrying the President's address.....I offer the following as a suggestion to the White House:

I would advise the networks involved that 1. they can remove their placements at the White House 2. The can recall their reporters from the daliy briefing 3. They will no longer be copied ahead of time on any speeches by the President 4. They will no longer be flying with the press corps to any battlefield locations.

Then I would give them 20 minutes to announce they are carrying the speech.

Walt, first of all let me thank you for your service to our country. Secondly you've been around here long enough to know you just made a controversial statment.

It's a free country...at least last time I checked... and we're all entitled to our views. I disagree with yours of course...instead putting the blood of all americans in this war on the hands of islamic terrorists, their worldwide apologists and enablers.

As a military man you realize the importance of striking leaders and drawing the enemy into a theater where you are most effective. That is what we have done in Iraq. Better we fight - and spill blood there - than closer to home.

IMO this isn't WWIII. It's the first Super War....a war without the enemy HQ'd in one location, but spread worldwide. The troops are not regular military, but shadowy soldiers, operating with one purpose...destroy western civilization, promote Islam worldwide.

It's like the man says...pay me now or pay me later. We have to stop this movement now. The only way to do that is go on the offensive. Personally I would like to have leveled Mecca, Baghdad, Kabul and other breeding grounds for the terrorists. However we are a compassionate country, and have chosen, rightly or wrongly, to take some colateral damage.

I don't trust Gen. Zinni, a Clinton man.

President Bush appointed General Zinni as a special envoy to the Mideast.

The jihadist's will stop attacking the U.S. when you and your children submit to Islam. Is that clear?

You may be all for this, but I don't intend to see it happen in my lifetime.

Bush is not perfect but saying he has blood on his hands encourages the jihad. Looks like they've kicked your BUTT.

How many Americans will die if we don't stand up and fight the slime in Iraq?

As General Zinni indicates, Iraq was contained; further, there is no connection with Iraq and 9/11.

Sorry, but put 793 deaths in perspective. We were in post WWII Germany for SEVEN YEARS and had many more killed administrating the Germans.

We've been in Iraq for what, 18 months? It's going to take another 8,000 dead here in the US before you're going to get it, right?

At this point, I'm trying to decide at what point we start calling the Press enemy combatants, and start fragging them over there, and possibly here.

I can't imagine the seditious hatred that courses through a man like Zinni, who ostensibly has led troops in battle, to go on 60 minutes and take a swipe at troop morale on national TV.

If he had some thing to say, and the credibility to back it, he could have gone to some through a back channel.

We haven't seen this kind of sedition since 1965.

Thanks for the facts, AF.

It seems like many of the Clinton appointees are still worming their way around the WH, under the guise that they represent "President Bush".

The Clinton exit plan from the WH left a few behind. Just goes to show you that you can't get rid of cockroaches.

I didn't watch 60 Minutes last night. Call me old fashion, but I am boycotting. Big problem is you got an audience of Andy Rooneys who can't figure out how to get to the polling place much less how to vote.

I believe FOX is showing it because they mentioned on FOX News Sunday that Brit Hume will host the coverage.

Assuming all cable news will cover and probably c-span.

Let ask, what have YOU done to support our troops?

Ummmm....joined the Marine Corps? Went on Desert Storm?

Pointed out that the invasion of Iraq undertaken last year is a grotesque, incompetent error?

I am supprting the troops by pointing out that their leaders have failed them, and it's time as General Zinni says, to change course, or at least get rid of the incompetents most directly responsible -- Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, and those other neo-con bums.

Wake up.

Which, at 13 months is unprecedented in the history of warfare. Please name any other war which conquered as large a territory and as many people with even remotely similar casualties. The closest I can think of is Spain's conquest of Mexico but that took many more years and more lives than what America has achieved in Iraq in the past year.

I know it's difficult but please try and remain focused on reality. We're talking about peoples' lives here.

As General Zinni points out, Iraq was contained, it was no threat to us.

We are less secure now than before we invaded Iraq.

Oh. What about the @ 150 KIA we had on Desert Storm?

Of course that was brought on by a grotesque failure of the first Bush administration.

I never watch those networks anyway. Only Fox News and M*A*S*H re-runs on the Hallmark channel.

Why stop at 793 dead... Have you forgotten 911 & the 3000 lives lost there... Maybe you just count military & civillians be damned...

Attacking Iraq has increased our vulnerability, not decreased it.

**KIA in Iraq as of today: 793**

Killed in one day on the Western Front in WWI (British troops only) 60,000. By the end of the same month 200,000 dead.

Do you think our operations in Afganistan a success or failure?

Your posts are conspicuously silent on the number of terrorists killed in the same time period.

Don't count on it...there will be a rebuttal, no doubt about it. Since when does a rat have to hear, or be present in order to lie?

Absolutely correct. When the veterans against Kerry held their press conference, most outlets mentioned it only in the story detailing the rebuttal.

Until recently the major networks were news twisters.

With this decision, they graduate to Truth Suppressors.
