I just heard that the networks are making an "in kind" donation to the Kerry Campaign by Not carrying the President's address.....I offer the following as a suggestion to the White House:
I would advise the networks involved that 1. they can remove their placements at the White House 2. The can recall their reporters from the daliy briefing 3. They will no longer be copied ahead of time on any speeches by the President 4. They will no longer be flying with the press corps to any battlefield locations.
Then I would give them 20 minutes to announce they are carrying the speech.
I don't understand how the media can ignore the FACT that in this war, the enemies want all of us dead. Even the "talking heads."
They'll find a way to cover that.
This is just a wild guess, but given that GEN Zinni was a Clinton appointee, my guess is that he is of the liberal persuasion. Kind of like you, and GEN Clark. So finding a general to criticize Bush or Rumsfelt wouldn't be that tough.
And then they wonder why Fox News is taking all their viewers.
Friggin' Newtorks!
How about a mass email threatening a boycott of all sponsors of NBC/CBS shows during the speech (ABC will carry the speech tonight).
nbcshows@nbc.com
CBS (You have to go to their website and submit a message)
The Vulture GIF is fantastic! Might I borrow this, O GIF'ted One?
We need to organize a major "call the networks effort." We need to complain to our local stations. We need to complain to networks. We need to let our friends know which stations will be carrying the President's speach and we need to support those stations. Find out who is sponsoring shows on the stations that are ignoring the president and call them to complain.
I feel that a large section of middle America that does not get cable will have no choice tonight. I believe it is planned that way to keep many from knowing the truth.
Not all American people. The networks reflect the agenda of many Americans. However, to announce and promote their intentions to not carry the President's message in these troubled times is irresponsible.
If one cares about the fate of the nation, they will listen to what the President has to say. Those who only care about themselves may not bother. C-SPAN will broadcast the President's speech without comment and without panning the room for certain looks of expression from people with opposing points of view.
I think that many people and the media often ignore the simple fact that an educated mind can entertain a thought without accepting it.
You are without credibility.
The terrorists have the "blood of our troops on their hands," and you are complicit in their deaths, so that must mean YOU have the "blood of our troops on your hands." GET WITH THE PROGRAM and support our fighters instead of denigrating the adminstration.
It shouldn't be allowed, IMO. If they can't see fit to run the speech on their precious networks, they need not comment on it.
Wishful thinking:-(
Well, this should help further paint the picture for Americans. Sounds good to me. They shouldn't even be allowed to carry it in the first place. All these networks are these days is a cross between political tabloids and treasoness and anti-US drivel machines.
You are without credibility.
"There has been poor strategic thinking in this, says [General] Zinni. There has been poor operational planning and execution on the ground. And to think that we are going to stay the course, the course is headed over Niagara Falls. I think it's time to change course a little bit, or at least hold somebody responsible for putting you on this course. Because it's been a failure.
From the Washington Post:
"The book, "Battle Ready," is by novelist Tom Clancy, with Zinni and Tony Koltz. Zinni was U.S. special envoy to the Middle East for Secretary of State Colin L. Powell from November 2002 to March 2003. In several interviews and statements at the time, Bush mentioned Zinni's presence in the region as one reason for his optimism about the peace process and said he was looking forward to his recommendations. Referring to himself and Vice President Cheney, Bush said during an exchange with reporters in the Oval Office, "We both trust General Zinni."
Bush and his incompetents have got to go.
KIA in Iraq as of today: 793
Don't claim you love America and excuse this.
Walt
The general glossed over the fact that France and Germany were selling arms to Sadaam and this might have something to do with not wanting to see a paying proposition come to an end. Likewise, Zinni skated over the UN. The UN administration was on the receiving end of a food for oil kickback scheme and didn't want that disrupted.
And America slips further and further down when will it stop and when will like minded Americans so something. Don't mean to be preaching doom and gloom but in my 62yrs I've never seen the likes of what is going on now.
Brit on FNS yesterday:
Bush has a PR problem. The 'good Iraq report' Wallace did a couple of weeks ago came as a surprise to many people.
[GWB needs to a get a decent PR crew working overtime. Clinton had one to spin and stave off bad news; they even made it to the cameras/mic's before bad news made the airwaves. GWB is losing the PR war.]
You are a fifth columnist, and I don't say that about many people on this board or anywhere.
This should be story number 1 on Rush and Hanity radio today!
This is bias by omision and would be an excellent example of bias.
BTW c-span.org should be streaming the speech live for those who are trapped in cubicles.
