"TOM McSELFISH = Gov. BustaMENCHA"
9/14/2003 | ALOHA RONNIE Guyer

Posted on 09/14/2003 10:05:38 PM PDT by ALOHA RONNIE

NEVER FORGET

.."TOM McSELFISH =

...Gov. BustaMENCHA"

........was THE Sign to behold at this weekend's California Republican Convention held in Playa Del Rey next to the Los Angeles International Airport. So I did.

...No Convention Endorsement came for California Governor, but a posted Convention Straw Poll showed ARNOLD with nearly ..80%.. of the votes verses a little over ..18%.. for TOM McCLINTOCK.

...No one backed down this weekend, though it was hoped one Candidate for California Governor would, with Recall Election Financier Congressman ISSA watching it all unfold right before his very eyes.

Signed:.."ALOHA RONNIE" Guyer / Republican Convention Witness

NEVER FORGET

This makes no sense at all.

Democrats have a Democratic candidate on the Republican and his name is Schwartzenegger, not McClintock.

blindly loyal Bush sycophants

"blindly"......accusatory, saying that I do not see the truth. That I am unaware of faults, that I follow without thinking.

"loyal"......that I am, but with good cause. George W. Bush stands strongly for the elements of conservatism that I believe are most important.....a strong military, the moral foundations of our government, the value of the life of the unborn, lower taxes..... The areas where he is NOT conservative, are less important to me than the areas where he IS conservative. I am loyal, but with justification.

"sycophants".......a tired old accusation that was never true of anyone in the first place (can't you guys try to come up with something different in you 'ad hominem' attacks??). If you look it up in the dictionary, you will see that it is a person who benefits from groveling and blindly supporting an important person. It's totally inaccurate.

I make no apologies for my support of the President, but I had the values he expressed in his campaign before I had a clue as to what he stood for.

And frankly, I'm sick of you angry uber rightists who attack incessantly something you know nothing about.

My strong support of him began because of my spiritual awareness well before the election, that God was going to use him to bring America back to Himself, and the confirmation of that in his words, and the words of those I trust, outside the political arena.

I pray for him daily, and still believe that God is using him, and will continue to use him in his second term.

I don't have to agree with him on every policy.......and I disagree STRONGLY with him on some. I just see a bigger picture than individual issues, and I thank God for the picture I see.

Oh good...so your reasons for voting for Arnold aren't based upon emotional pulp.

However, they can't be based upon anything resembling conservative appeal or you'd have presented it. Which leaves what?

You support him because of his appeal as a liberal?
OR
You support him for the purely superficial aspect that he has an (R) at the end of his name?

The first implies that you oppose conservative policies yourself.

The second implies that you'd gladly vote for Daschle, Gephart, or even Clinton, they were only in the wrong party during the election.

Help me out here...I'm not seeing any valid or reliable basis for a conservative to vote for Arnold. It's a good thing McClintock is still on the ticket or a lot of people would simply stay home.

Yes...liberal Republicans who absolutely refuse to support any conservative candidate for any reason.

They are to blame for all of California's problems for the past 4 decades.

Well, maybe I did 'jump on you first' but it was because of a dispassionate observation that you were mowing down everyone in your path who disagreed with you, and with GREAT emotion.

I respect people who speak their mind......and bluntly. I was raised with it, and I practice it (with a touch too much sarcasm)......and some people don't like me much for it.

But there is a difference between stating your views with passion, and bludgeoning those who disagree with your words. And there is a difference between standing up for Christian principles in love, as Scripture mandates, and mocking those who don't agree with you.

Thanks for the discussion........seriously. I think we ended up getting somewhere.

Let me try to show OTHERS your significant and irrefuteable errors

In 1992 this was the voter registration.....

Republican.....125,363 or roughly 60%
Democrat.....83,091, or 39.8%
Libertarian.....78.... not very many, poor fellows

Now..... the voting breakdown in the Presidential election was as follows.....

GHW Bush......39.6%
Clinton.......34%
Perot......25.6%

That means that if the percentages hold even roughly, Perot took less than 6% of the Democrat vote away, and nearly 20% away from Bush.

No, that means nearly 20% of conservative voters didn't vote for Bush. IT NEVER MEANS THAT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM WOULD HAVE CHOSEN BUSH FOR PRESIDENT IF PEROT WERE NOT AVAILABLE

When there are no conservative candidates, conservatives stay home in droves. It's a lesson you should have learned after Pete Wilson's defeat...after GHB's defeat...after Ford's loss. You should also realize that when there is a conservative candidate, nothing approaching "pure" mind you, that conservatives come out to vote in massive %'s as well.

Post #423.....Perot EARNED votes from conservatives.....

The votes Perot earned were from conservatives.

I believe without Perot to vote for, most would have stayed home.

Bush STILL wouldn't get the votes, and you wouldn't have a whipping boy without Perot.

There. If you don't mean it, don't say it. Sheesh!

Christianity isn't about living the life of a saint or forever living as a hypocrit.

Which gives me even more reason so suspect you of being a DU disruptor.

Hey boy, you're talking about Ronald Reagan there!

You're type of conservative is headed for extinction, with good cause. Just like the dynasaur, but at least their remains were put to good use.

We are headed for a renaissance. A period of enlightenment, of creativity and of vigorious production. Arnold will lead the way.

VOTE FOR THE RENAISSANCE MAN - VOTE FOR SCHWARZENEGGER

Arnold also supports keeping the RATS alive and in power.

Which is the entire point of the debate.

While one side has provided ample evidence of Arnold's liberal tendencies, your side has totally failed to support any contention that would rebut or refute those simple and supported assertions covering the problems Arnold creates for conservatives and Republicans.

It's as though you're proud of your quarterback winning the game when he threw the ball in the wrong direction for the winning points in the game.

"Well, at least OUR guy won the game!"

You also have an additional weakness in your argument.

You've labelled conservatives who don't vote for liberals as "conservative purists" if those liberals are Republicans.

It's a weak lie and now clearly exposed.

Exactly. Which is where you and I will forever disagree.

I think it's stupid, unAmerican and hurts the country, and you think it's a swell idea.

They almost cost us the election in 2000. You're right, incredibly stupid, unAmerican and it does hurt us!

These studies are ignoring a tremendously huge caveat:

They assume that voters for Perot would still have voted anyway if Perot were not a candidate.

What Fiscal conservative issues is Arnold willing to stand upon?

I have seen ZERO conservative issues, fiscal or otherwise upon which your candidate is willing to make a stand. There's always a qualifier, a "maybe", an "if", and a "but".

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss Same as the old boss

No.

I think you're all very foolish for not realizing you need conservative candidates or else you have liberal ones. Conservatives don't vote for liberals.

Conservatives aren't blind syncophants of Republicans. Now get back with the program and work toward saving this nation instead of choosing "your guy" as the new Clinton and proclaiming some strange sort of "victory"
