You are right. That's why only those who wish harm upon the American people seek to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment- which should be the FIRST Amendment because having the right to free speech means very little if you are denied your G*d given right to protect yourself or if you are dead.

But the First Ammendmant allows you to foment rebellion and organize. A friend and I actually sat down to figure it out, the first half of the Bill of Rights is a decending order list of how to overthrow a government:
First you complain, then you organize (1st)
Then you arm and train (2nd)
Then you have a home safe from intrussion by the government (3rd and 4th)
Then you can't be forced to admit what you're doing and rat out your compatriots (5th)

Pretty impressive.
