Right. And I have some prime real estate for sale 40 miles west of Miami.

Bush was dead set against allowing armed pilots until it became obvious it was a popular idea with many voters. Ashcroft made his famous statement about the 2nd A protecting an individual right to arms, but his statement means zilch if he doesn't reign in his ATF thugs. We all sit around feeling good about what he SAID, while his JBTs go along their merry way harrassing honest gun owners and dealers as usual. Note that the his Justice Department lawyers in the Emerson case insisted that private citizens have no constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

During the 2000 campaign Bush stated that he supported the "assault weapon" ban. Anyone who thinks he is a true believer in the 2ndA is in for a rude awakening when he signs the extention the AWB next year.

And don't hit me with that tired old Bushbot question, "would you rather have Gore in the WH?" That seems to be the standard response from Bushbots anytime it's pointed out that Bush isn't the second coming of Christ. No, I don't want Gore or any other Democrat in the WH now or ever, that's why I held my nose and voted for Bush. Given the only alternative, I will no doubt vote for him next time. But I won't be under any illusion that I'm voting for a true conservative who would expend some of his political capital defending the RKBA.

"Bush was dead set against allowing armed pilots..."

Nonsense. Sure, the press kept saying that Bush was against it, but Bush NEVER said, nor can you find a single such quote, that he was against it.

What you will find if you have an honest mind is that Bush FIRED the only person in his administration who was against it, and then Bush signed it into law.

That also made it GWB's SECOND such pro-gun legislation. The first legislation authorized 5,000 pilots to be eligible to arm themselves pending training and certification by the DOT. The one person at DOT who opposed letting any of the pilots get certified got fired by Bush, and Congress then passed a SECOND bill which allowed for arming ALL pilots.

You know, for all the claims of the anti-Bushes that Bush is anti-gun, he's signed TWO pro-gun pieces of legislation and he hasn't vetoed ANY pro-gun legislation. GWB has also informed the Supreme Court that the 2nd Amendment protects and INDIVIDUAL'S right to keep and bear arms.

Spin that fact all you want, but it's a pro-gun position and it is inarguably superior to continuing the previous policy of the federal government.
