KING: All right, let's talk about the Elizabeth Smart case, which the media has kind of left now. What is your best read on that tragedy in Utah?
WALSH: I spent yesterday by coincidence with Ed and Lois Smart. I had them on "The John Walsh Show" to kind of give an update to the case. You know, Ricci, the guy that was the main suspect, died in prison of an aneurysm. He's the guy that was the handyman at the house that put 1,000 miles on his pickup truck during the two days that she was missing. He was a burglar. He also had a rap sheet, which a lot of the media doesn't understand. He spent 10 years in jail. He tried to blow the head off of a cop with a shotgun. This is a real bad guy.
I hope that he didn't take the secret of Elizabeth Smart to the grave with him. I talked to Ed and Lois yesterday. I said, don't give up hope. Justice delayed isn't justice denied.
What's killing them is the fact of the not knowing. I think they're prepared for the worst. Most parents of missing children are prepared for the worst. But their young daughter has now said that she believes that Ricci wasn't the guy in there that night, that it may have been another guy that did some work on their roof, an itinerant guy that worked at a homeless shelter, and he may be a suspect in this. And I don't want to give away a lot of breaking information here, but "America's Most Wanted" is going to take a look at the Smart case, because I know one thing, we have been able to solve crimes after 10 years.
So I gave the Smarts, you know, the best encouragement I could and said, look, don't give up hope. We'll relook at the case. It is normal for the media tension to die down, and to try to have a good holiday. This is going to be the first Christmas without this beautiful girl, and the Smarts have five other beautiful children. So they're trying to hold that family together.
I said, you know, do the best you can with your five children. Don't give up hope, and, you know what, we'll take another look at this case and try to keep it alive.

"that a woman called Moul's garage, & it might be Angela."
Evidently it wasn't Angela. In the show tonight, the police don't believe Angela called. I bet they have the phone records and there is probably no way Angela could have made a call from any of the numbers that called the station during the timeframe Moul said he got a call. Perhaps she was at work or something.

Yes, the show broke my heart. A sad sad case, and one that I don't think is going to be solved.

In the show we learned that there was nothing left on the torn screen (kitchen window) to indicate that anyone actually passed through it. We also learned that the window really is ground-level. I hadn't known it was quite that low. We learned that the police don't think Angela was the woman who called the auto place to get the jeep ready for pick-up. We learned that police believe the abductor did take Elizabeth up through the back area--not the driveway, as some have though due to confusing news and tabloid stories.
And we learned that thinking about this makes the Smart siblings feel "sad." Duh! The questions to the kids were touchy-feely, non-informative stuff.
I assume you have followed this case, and/or read the threads about it on here.

Welcome back, Mighty Mouse! I'm holding onto my seat! (That might sound bad, but Mighty Mouse fans will understand.)
Great to see you!
To: Devil_Anse
Nice to see you again too! Did you have a nice holiday season?

Thanks for the links. I tried the 2nd one & read Police Artist's interpretation of Angela's statement. General consensus appears to be that there was a woman involved, that a woman called Moul's garage, & it might be Angela. We've tried to tell you this for months. You go to another website and immediately believe them. You are truly something else, lakey!
As far as this other area you're way out there on, about the kidnapper not really having a gun, what I heard happened is they first called JG who is a psychic and he conjured up that Ricci had used a small, black 9MM handgun in a crime in the past so he told Ed to tell police MK said the kidnapper had a small black handgun. This is the one and same JG that always disappears from the thread when the Smarts go out of town.
To: Utah Girl
Sure did! How about you?
And, guaranteed, we both had a better holiday season than either the Smarts, or the Petersons (not to mention, many others). Have you checked out the Modesto case?

The Lecy Peterson one? Yep. Sounds like there might be a body in the marina where her husband went fishing. Ugh.

Where did I say I believed anybody on the other web site? Huh, huh, huh?
"48 Hours" tonight sounded like you wrote the dialogue, Sherl. Except - now get this - the police do NOT believe Angela made the call to Moul's! Thought for a moment that you're a script writer employed by CBS.
Have we been spelling Mary Catherine's name wrong all along? The K looks better. C is too much like one of Henry VIII's wives.
Of interest was when MC was asked - and I'm not sure of what she was asked - about the night Elizabeth was taken. MC's hand went to her chin.
Basically, the program was nothing new. And Ed doesn't come across as a grieving father, sorry to say. He strains to but....

Did you see 48 Hours?
Sue Ann Adams was interviewed on there briefly. They said "For the first time, neighbor Sue Ann Adams speaks out." I find that confusing, as I could have sworn that someone on these threads (I can't remember who) had said they had seen Sue Ann on TV before.
It was the first time I'd ever seen what Sue Ann looks like.
According to the show, police seem to be going with the burglary-gone-bad theory.
As for the roofer who's been mentioned, I still can't figure out when that John Walsh show about the roofer is going to be aired. May have been on already, and I just missed it!

#133 - Sherlock's sense of insider humor.
I read your post before it was deleted. You made some "in poor taste" comments about scaredkat. She may have complained of abuse to JimRob.

To: Devil_Anse; All
John Walsh talked about the roofer sometime in December on his show. I don't think the Smarts wanted that out of the bag yet, I thought maybe they would mention it tonight.
It was very sad to watch 48 hours. Those helicopters got to me, brought it all back. Everyday that is all you would hear them flying back and forth util dark.
I sure hope someone calls in about information of somekind to help find her.
I think 48 hours sort of used the Smart story for ratings without really thinking of the Smarts. The highlight running through the show was way to much!
I still think it was wrong for them to go to disney land. As I said before "Come on kids lets go have some fun, yeah your sister is missing but go have fun." I think this will hurt them in the long run.
The one thing that really struck me was MK saying that when her father ducks her in at night she thinks about Elizabeth being Kidnapped -- Hmmmmmmm? Sorry, I just can't rule out Ed yet.
I know that MK was spelled with a C and I do believe others knew this also but for a young innocent girl MK just seem a lot better to type.
PS. I know that you weren't very nice Calcetine but I didn't report you. I do hope we All can get along and not let our own opinions get in the way of the case.

I haven't seen Sue Ann Adams on TV before, but she has been referenced several times with the breakin at the neighbors home.

I forgot,
One more thing they brought up that really bothers me.
2hours and 45minutes past before MK went to her parents to tell them she was gone.
That is just to long of a time frame.
