Has ANYONE ever been imprisoned for smoking pot?

Liberteens come, and Liberteens go. But they seem to have an awful time with their own (and biggest - maybe only) issue - pot.

As far as anyone can tell, not ONE person has been placed behind bars for smoking pot. But the Liberteens paint an entirely different picture. They claim that HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS are behind bars for smoking.

Can anyone provide any proof either way?

I believe that's the SECOND time you've gotten the point. But when asked the question, "Has ANYONE ever been imprisoned for smoking pot?", you answered, "Yes." That would make you wrong. Not a little bit wrong, not somewhat wrong - totally, completely, 100% wrong.

As for my assertion, Liberteens constantly whine and complain that sooooooo many perps are behind bars because of smoking pot. It's a main plank in their twisted agenda. They too are wrong. Not a little bit wrong, not somewhat wrong - totally, completely, 100% wrong.

I'm not sure, but if you are "smoking" it , then you would almost have to "possess" it.

If you got busted for 50 pounds of the stuff, would you be charged for smoking 50 pounds? No.

When standing in front of da judge, he'll explain the charges. He'll NEVER say, "You were caught smoking..." He WILL say, "You were in the possession of..." But, then again, possession doesn't mean smoking - now does it?

Let's say I got arrested for drunk driving. The police found six beers in my car, along with a warm, unopened case of beer in the trunk. Should they be able to charge me with illegal trafficing in alcohol just because I had more beer with me than than I was ready to drink right away?

Has anyone (except minors) been arrested for drinking beer? I doubt it, they are arrested either for public intox, or illegal possession, such as in dry counties, or having beer that may not have passed the scrutiny of the taxation authorities.

See Arts. 90 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 890 and 912a, respectively. The members sentenced him to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 12 months, forfeiture of $500.00 pay per month for 6 months, and reduction to the lowest enlisted grade. On the recommendation of his staff judge advocate (SJA), the convening authority set aside the disobedience finding and dismissed that charge as having been improperly referred. He did not disturb the marijuana-use finding and approved the sentence, except for confinement exceeding 10 months.

Ahh... but the cop wouldn't have given you a second look if you hadn't lit up in front of him (in our little sample exercise). So even if the charge is for possession, the crime is consumption. That's why the law is written the way it is: to give police wider latitude in enforcement.

So if you commit one act, are arrested for it, but charged with another act and imprisoned, why is it exactly that you were put in jail?

Case in point: Al Capone. He was a smuggler, a crime boss, a murderer, an extortionist, and a thief. He was put in jail on the basis of a charge for tax evasion.

So why was he put in prison? I submit to you that his commission of the former crimes are what let to his imprisonment for the latter.
