Passports are much faster now. Last year before we went to New Zealand my husband couldn't find his PP. He filled out the papers had his pictures taken, got his birth certificate. He sat at the Pass Port Office & waited till it was ready. All of the preparation & waiting took up most of the day, but waiting at the PPO was only about a hour. If you mailed it in, I don't know how long it would take.

Passports are much faster now.

That'll do.

My initial Passport took 5 days, back in 1978 with the military and State dept. help.
My last renewal was about 4 years ago. It took a couple of weeks by mail.
