The superstitious can't stand the notion that the universe operates according to objective, predictable, understandable principles. Certainly you feel threatened, but the universe is the way it is, and not how we would wish it to be.
Well, yes it does, but this is an argument for God, not against "Him", and it does not at all illuminate "His" nature beyond this one very basic observation.
