In the those days, just the very tip of the foreskin was cut off. Michelangelo's painting of Paul in the Sistine Chapel illustrates the minimal circumcision of the time. Nowadays clamps are used that pulls the specialized nerve saturated foreskin taunt and cuts the maximum possible off. I don’t expect you to comprehend this; after all you think foreskin is like fingernails. >>

Yes, there has been considerable research done and ongoing on this topic. My husband would qualify under the "old" type of circ you mentioned(embarrassing to mention;-) which left all of the sensitive underneath part of the foreskin intact(frenulum?). The ones performed nowadays, and we have many boy cousins I watch and therefore have to change, completely remove that portion to which is most sensitive for men. In fact, I think besides not recommending circ, doctors are moving back to procedures that don't so drastically remove the foreskin and are more careful to leave the frenulum intact. I think you are right on though, PJ doesn't know much about this topic and probably does not even know which part of the penis that he may or may not be missing;-)

What is this? PJ obsession time? I see one reply after another by you to on this circumcision thread on posts I made way back. What's with the obsession that you're constantly circumscribing? You're certainly acting very circumspect on the topic of one's circumference.

I've certainly given "it" a lot less thought than you have been giving "it."

In fact, I have read of a few young men who are coming of age, and who were NOT circumcised, and are choosing to undergo circumcision.>>

Yeah yeah and there are some men(go to places like nocirc)who are trying to "regrow" thier foreskins. both cases are extreme imo.

p.s. Checking your (and my former) state flag (Ohio), I notice that it has been circumcised (really). Is this the cause of the obsession?

No firing squad here since the evidence seems compelling for what you said. And it's not to say that circed men don't enjoy sex, but that the overall effect is dulled.
Doesn't this equate with how much is taken off though? It seemed from what I learned, it really has to do with if the frenulum is removed along with the foreskin.

Please continue relaxing on the couch and continue talking to Dr. PJ. With more such sessions and intensive therapy, perhaps we can find the root cause of your obsession. Please be frank and don't circumvent the issue.

I believe it was Waris Dirie. An article about her life was in Reader's Digest a few years ago.

Gees...when I delivered my son, I guess I should have sued my OBGYN for performing an episiotomy on me (that's right, GENITAL MUTILATION), instead of letting me tear wide open and exposing me to infection, or having my son continue to experience "distress" inside me because I couldn't pass him due to his size.>>

Oh no, not another debate topic--LOL. Episiotomies are generally considered unneccessary as well and are used to speed up the delivery for the doctor(not saying this was the case in your situation). Usually a skilled midwife can help ease the babies head and help you breath so you don't tear(of course if the baby isn't under distress). The argument is that a mild tear is fine though and happens on a natural "weak point" that usually heals up quite well.

Hmmm.... This sounds like the premise for a sci-fi story about a dark future populated by Circs and UnCircs. Eventually one or the other MUST be destroyed.

And it's not to say that circed men don't enjoy sex, but that the overall effect is dulled.

Perhaps that is just what a certain circed someone in your life has been claiming as an excuse.

It seemed from what I learned, it really has to do with if the frenulum is removed along with the foreskin.

A missing frenulum? I think you can find the picture of mine on milk cartons.

And now continue talking to Dr. PJ. This is getting verrrrry interesting.

I saw an old man talking about circumcision on a talk show one day. I don't know what religion this old man was, but he was not circumsized as a baby. His opinions on male circumcision were thusly:

All men need to be circumsized sooner or later. As a person ages, your skin stretches and gets loose. If you are not circumsized, you will reach a point in your life where the skin is so long that it becomes a nuisance and has a negative effect on personal hygiene. You can choose to endure the hardship or you can choose to have the nuisance removed via surgery.

This particular old man chose surgery.

I was circumsized as birth. I have seen uncircusized men at the ymca, and I will tell you that what I saw was not a pretty sight.

Trivia question:  Who's will read, in part, "I don't want any women to go to my grave at all during my funeral or on any occasion thereafter."
