Recent remarks by US Vice-President JD Vance about the Antichrist and "the end times" are a "very common belief", one of his friends says.
Vance recently mused on his religious views while responding to a question on a Christian podcast. He said he would "not [be] shocked if the Antichrist was walking among us" and speculated on whether the end of the world was nigh.
Rod Dreher, a conservative writer, rejected any suggestion that the comments would harm the vice-president. He told the BBC's Today programme: "Most Americans who are inclined to vote Republican already believe this stuff."
In his podcast comments, Vance also clarified that such thoughts did not preoccupy him.
In Christianity, the "end times" phrase refers to theories about what will happen at the end of the world. Many churches believe God has a divine plan for the end of everything.
Meanwhile, the Antichrist is seen as the enemy of God who appears during the final phase of the world's existence and takes it over.
Vance, who became a Catholic as an adult, reflected on these topics during a recent podcast discussion with Bryce Crawford, a US Christian podcaster.
"Do I think that we're in the end times? I don't know," he said in response to a Crawford question on the subject. "And I think that it's probably bad for me spiritually to focus too much on it, because there are, like, things you gotta do.
"I gotta be good to my wife. I gotta be good to my kids. I have to be as good of a leader as I can for the United States of America."
The vice-president continued by saying: "I think that there are, like, things about the world that make me feel, like, not shocked if the Antichrist was walking among us."

bonus points if anyone knows what song/album this is from:
Thy will be done. My brother my sister my friend. This morning hear me and hear me clearly and hear me good because this is my sole purpose in the world at this time is to warn people of the impending doom and the possibility of salvation in Jesus Christ.
I am called to preach the gospel and as a gospel preacher I want to tell you this morning,
if I never say anything else in this church from here on in then we arе living on the very vergе of the end of the world as we know it
We’re being laughed at as fate, the supernatural, demonism, the miraculous, the end of the world, the anti-christ, the armageddon.
All around us, things predicted in the bible are being unmistakenly fulfilled before our very eyes.
We read these words, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. (in the witch) the heavens shall pass away with a great noise and the elements shall melt to his (ferment) feet.” The earth also and the works also that are therein-
Revelation implies that the AntiChrist comes when he wouldn’t be recognized by simply reading your Bible.
Nice stretch there beebs. Possibly some non political folks also believe these things as well. Maybe even some democommies. Well, the ones that believe the whole higher power thing. 🤔👍
no, “IT” has not been by most
I am a firm believer in the AI-Christ and “IT” runs on the “NT’ kernel
funny how these things work A “NT” I
and AI runs on Numbers, but a Human creation from numbers./
Once the midterm elections are behind us and 2028 is in focus, the media is going to harp on comments like this as a way to make Vance out to be a religious zealot. I know its not fair and his comments are mischaracterized, but the media will not be able to resist playing up a leading presidential candidate talking about the “End Times” as a religious nut. Look for more and more of these stories.
St. John said that there are many antichrists!
1 JOHN 2:18
KJ21
Little children, it is the last time. And as ye have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists, whereby we know that this is the last time.
And we have been living in the last days since Holy Pentecost!
In Matthew 24, Jesus says the false signs and wonders would deceive the very elect, if that were possible.
Matt 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
That includes all Christians, who are reading the Bible. So yeah, reading the Bible doesn’t alert you to the AntiChrist.
George Soros, Neville Singham, the current and former Pope?
Or, maybe it’s a group project by the criminal news media.
It seems to me that much of what Charlie Kirk was talking about was just simple, straight-forward Christian theology. It’s been around for 2000 years. Just stuff like “God created man and woman”.
And the Left managed to turn that into outrageous hate speech worse than anything Hitler came up with. Charlie got killed for being such an extremely extreme extremist.
Islam has become “normal” and Christianity has become “dangerous”. I’d say we’re in trouble.
Typical liberal media, Christian conservative believing in the biblical antichrist is somehow aberrant and backwards, wrong think.
However, Muslims believing in the Mahdi is to be respected and supported as a cultural enrichment and even a protected enlightened point of view.
“... I know its not fair and his comments are mischaracterized, but the media will not be able to resist playing up a leading presidential candidate talking about the “End Times” as a religious nut. Look for more and more of these stories.”
I agree. What galls me is in my lifetime, (since 1956), I’ve seen the media go from trying to objective (even if they were biased) to being blatantly and publicly biased and still claiming to be objective! The final straw was when the NY Times changed their editorial policy to “adjust” its news stories to promote “social good.” This was in the early 2000s.
I expect news to present facts. That’s a rarity today. Headlines are false, without apology. Key facts (who, what, where, why, when, how) are not presented.
I come to Free Republic to counteract the media bias.
Both Catholics and Prostestants believe that there will be an anti-christ. Black Democrat Christians believe there will be an anti-christ. By other names some Bhuddists and Hindus believe such a figure is inevitable.
The differences are:
Pre-Trib or Post-Tribulation
and Through our efforts can we hasten or delay it happening (and the flip side, hasten or delay the return..the Second Coming of Christ.)
” even now are there many antichrists”
And we know where they’re sitting in chambers at the Capitol.
Not surprising that the BBC hacks are unfamiliar with God’s Word.
Do we want a guy like this with his finger on the button?
For those of us who belong to churches which encourage Bible reading instead of blindly obeying Bishops, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” - Matthew 24:36.
Amen, brother (or sister, as the case might be).
I’m not seeing a lot of compelling signs and wonders.
You sure can tell which POTENTIAL 2028 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE THE GLOBALISTS FEAR. And, yes, it’s VANCE! He’s clearly the one to carry on the patriotic MAGA agenda from 2029 onward. And he’ll do it without Trump’s “eccentricities” which some people find off-putting.
The Millerites and Muggletonians seem to still be among us.
