Five youngsters have been arrested in a placid California suburb for a disturbing TikTok trend that has frightened homeowners across the US.
The latest arrests in Elk Grove, California, included two 13–year–olds, police said.
The children were taken into custody after partaking in the so–called 'door kick challenge' - a TikTok trend in which teenagers sneak up to a person's property and kick in their front door.
Footage released by the Elk Grove Police Department showed the two kids, one in a ski mask and the other with his hood up, backing into a front door before booting it at full force and running away.
The children caused more than $680 in damages, according to law enforcement, who issued a stern warning about the dangers of a seemingly innocuous online prank.
While trends like this may seem like harmless fun, they can have serious consequences,' Elk Grove police wrote.
At least eight incidents of children kicking the front doors of strangers' homes and causing damage had been reported in the past month.
Elk Grove police has not released the ages of the other suspects – but confirmed the 'youngsters' were 'kids'
Police are also concerned about how terrified homeowners might react to the children if they think their homes are being broken into.
'It sounds like someone is kicking down your door to try and hurt your family,' Elk Grove police sergeant Jason Jimenez told CBS Sacramento.
Ronnie Monroe, who lives in the California suburb about 15 miles from Sacramento, said his garage door had been kicked in by children in back–to–back weeks.
'Somebody could come out with a gun, and you could never know, these kids could be dead just for a stupid prank,' he said to the outlet.

Anyone kicks in my front door, next stop for them is a body bag.
“ law enforcement, who issued a stern warning about the dangers of a seemingly innocuous online prank.”
…that’ll fix em!!
Obviously the motive for whoever came up with this.
“these kids could be dead just for a stupid prank”
Somehow I’m OK with that. Sometimes a life is ended short to serve as a lesson for others.
“Pranksters” my ass.
Another one of those CA trends that mysteriously won’t make it to “stand your ground” states.
“Police are also concerned about how terrified homeowners might react to the children if they think their homes are being broken into.” If you door has been kicked open, you have been broken into.
Civilization requires protection of property, even restitution.
If the “children” learn that lesson, it will be cheap.
I doubt they will learn, but it could happen.
Does it really “terrify” homeowners that a couple of 13-year-olds kick their front door and run away? The article seems a little hyperbolic.

Nothing innocuous about it. Their homes are being broken into. Maybe shooting the first one will be sufficient warning for the rest.

A kid in Houston was shot and killed not too long ago for playing ding dong ditch.
I played ding-dong-ditch when I was a youngster. I know, I was a pretty bad dude.
No. They really don't.
And if I remember right, the kid kicked the door and it was in the wee hours of the morning.
Can't imagine who would be coming up with these stupid people tricks in order to get Americans killed can you?
Such a puzzle.
Did you play it at night, masked with a bunch of your “friends” and kick the door hard enough to damage it?
