The best trades guys I know did awful in school.
These days, the deck is stacked against them because everything is geared towards college, college, college and little to no alternatives are offered to them. They learn differently, they think differently and they’re wired (no pun intended) differently. They’re just left to atrophy so their school can brag about their college attendance rate.
College isn’t for everyone and there’s no shame in that. Bring trades back and watch them blossom. Daughter did awful in school but can lay down a weld and work on transmissions with the best of them. She’s translated her “fix it” skills into a career that pays more than most college degrees with job offers galore. Not quite the “failure” predicted by her high school guidance counselor. 🙄
IMO, the best thing a healthy, hard working relatively bright young person could do is learn a standard trade and work to build his/her own company. Plumbing, electrical, etc.
