Maria del Carmen Garcia was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in jail for the killing, which was later reduced to five-and-a-half years on appeal
A mother was overcome with devastation as she received a jail term for setting her daughter's rapist on fire and burning him to death after his release from prison.
Maria del Carmen Garcia couldn't bear the sight of her daughter Veronica's attacker, Antonio Cosme, after he was freed. At the tender age of 13 in 1998, Veronica suffered a brutal rape at knifepoint by Cosme, their neighbour, who was originally given a nine-year sentence.
However, during a day release in June 2005, the unrepentant predator brazenly confronted Maria at a bus stop close to her home near Alicante. Adding insult to injury, he had the cheek to ask Maria "how her daughter was".
After Cosme swaggered into a bar her family often visited, Maria, fuelled by anger and terror, bought petrol from a nearby station.
In a bid to inflict some form of justice, Maria entered the bar with the fuel, drenched Cosme in it and set him ablaze. With burns covering 90 per cent of his body, Cosme didn't survive and succumbed to his injuries days later in a hospital, reports the Mirror US.
Found disoriented around the port that evening, Maria confessed to the act. Claiming her intention was more to frighten or severely hurt him so he would understand a fraction of her daughter's pain, rather than kill.
Originally sentenced to nine-and-a-half years' imprisonment for murder, Maria's conviction was decreased to five-and-a-half years upon appeal. This sentencing sparked a national outcry in support of the anguished mother, with a groundswell of voices rallying to prevent her imprisonment.

Or will other potential rapists, knowing that a distraught parent could do the same thing to them when they are released. This I cident is a good warning to potential rapists to reconsider!
I’m in favor of the death penalty for people who traffic children too.
There’s plenty of people in the world - we can afford to lose the monsters.
The gravity of sex, monogamy, marriage, etc., is completely disregarded in our society.
So the blurring occurs when you have the "no means no" and "he said she said" situations which are inevitable if there is going to be stranger-stranger sex.
The bar in any society can be set pretty much anywhere. We have let the Communists/Socialists/Progressives/Elites/Rats set the height of the bar for the past century.
It has been a complete disaster, as any honest person would acknowledge.
So people need to meditate on this topic and develop resolve: The Rats are NOT going to raise the bar. They are atheist communists, many of whom profit from all manner of licentiousness and immorality.

Not a chance in hell I would vote to convict this woman of ANYTHING if I were on the Jury.. PERIOD.

In most states, rape was a death penalty offense until 1977 when the Supreme Court rules that it was a cruel and unusual punishment to execute for a rape of an adult who survives the attack. But that leaves open execution for rape of a child. Even if the child survives.
She was 13 when raped. Should be death penalty offense.
Yeah, that.
Rape IS A FORM OF DEATH to both body and mind.
All monsters that inflict that horror should be executed.
Parents in the USA quite often are afraid to leave children out of their sight.
My neighbor Brent will not let his older kid out to get the mail or haul in a trash can. I don’t even know what this older kid looks like.
It’s too bad he didn’t survive for a year so he would have had to live with the pain for a while. I wouldn’t have charged the mother with a crime for what she did.
JUSTICE.
Too many false rape accusations.
The standard of evidence for a capital crime is much higher than a case with a lower maximum sentence. Your more likely to be wrongly convicted and spend life in prison than to be wrongly executed.
Your more likely to be rightfully found innocent in a capital trial.

I get it that this is most difficult to accept, especially for such a damning crime as this and in your (understandably) heightened emotional state ... but this Biblical lesson is a fact.
That point made, understand that if this happened to someone I loved I would -- quite literally -- spend the rest of my life to do the same damn thing the mother did ... although I would preface the killing by using a broomstick to give the b@stard a "hard lesson in penetration".
I’d fine her a dollar and send her on her way. And I’d lend her the dollar.
The Bible prescribes the death penalty for forcible rape. Not by being burned to death. But the mom probably didn’t have access to a gun and could hardly arrange a stoning.
So no it’s not disproportionate. Forcible rapists should be given the death penalty.
