Something tells me that Kosinski made up this whole scenario. Except the bit about these people (assuming they’re real) being normal.

one couple in the group wouldn’t allow their kids to apply to Ivy League universities, but were “weird” about explaining their reasoning. "Weird"? Applying to the Ivy League these days would be weird and at variance with getting a good education.

““This dinner continues to haunt me. They all seemed so… normal. When I asked the couple who were my old friends how THEY didn’t know, they said that in their upscale FL neighborhood, people are extremely careful not to ever broach or debate the subject. This is not healthy,””
With very few exceptions (and I do know one or two), it is impossible to have a polite conversation with a progressive about politics. Most (not all) move quickly to accusations of racism, homophobia, and the usual list of isms and phobias and then you are excluded from their social circle.
So why bother? Maybe some are redeemable. But I don’t spend time anymore trying to get through the 500 who are not for every one that manages to be civil.
And in groups, they are even worse.
So the author is shocked that normal people don’t want to deal with a self-righteous, hectoring political harpy?

Ex-CNN reporter Michelle Kosinski wrote in a Sunday social media post that she was surprised by how “normal” a group of “closeted” Trump supporters seemed at a dinner she attended, which she said continues to “haunt” her. This article is simply begging for a "Bee" or "Onion" treatment.
One would have to only slightly turn up the "crazy" to achieve the desired effect.

This is the 2024 Democratic party in a nutshell, distiguished by an entire female population with mental health disorders. She has PTSD after sitting next to normal people at dinner.
