Whether it's eating less meat or cycling instead of driving, humans can do many things to help prevent climate change.
Unfortunately, breathing less isn't one of them.
That might be a problem, as a new study claims the gases in air exhaled from human lungs is fueling global warming.
Every person breathes out CO2 when they exhale, but in their new study, the researchers focused on methane and nitrous oxide.
These two are both powerful greenhouse gases, but because they're breathed out in much smaller quantities, their contribution to global warming may have been overlooked. Methane and nitrous oxide in the air we exhale makes up to 0.1 per cent of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions, scientists say.
And that's not even accounting for the gas we release from burps and farts, or emissions that come from our skin without us noticing.
The new study was led by Dr Nicholas Cowan, an atmospheric physicist at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Edinburgh.
'Exhaled human breath can contain small, elevated concentrations of methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), both of which contribute to global warming,' Dr Cowan and colleagues say.
'We would urge caution in the assumption that emissions from humans are negligible.'
As most of us remember from science classes at school, humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide

the words of these scientists are truly deranged words ala` John Kerry
Pikers! What comes out my other end after a night of Mexican and tequila shooters is responsible for .75%.
Of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions.
And I live on the other side of the Atlantic.
These idiots should watch the movie "The Road" or read the book. It's about a father and son trying to survive in a world with no CO2. The book and movie don't say it's CO2 but you get the idea as the plants have died off as have the animals and as a result the few people that are left resort to cannibalism.
I believe the danger zone is a CO2 percentage of 0.02% in the atmosphere. We are currently at 0.04%. The danger to life is that percentage falling not increasing but as usual the RINOpublican party refuses to confront these insane bastards and lets them do what the hell they want.
Looks like the only way to assure that humanity has a future on this planet is for all humans to stop breathing permanently.
In case anyone still wonders what the whole mask thing is really about...
(Forced rebreathing of your own toxins, so as to decrease the surplus population...)
RETURN THE PLANET TO THE DINOSAURS!
Just ask the demonrat party.
Don’t breathe.
Climate church members ought to off themselves to save the universe.
Looks like a form of “carbon fixation.”
They fully depend on the ignorance of people. If they tell most people that they are adding CO2 to the atmosphere by breathing, those people will believe it. They don’t think past the breathing out part. Thing is that every molecule of carbon dioxide that they breathe out was part of the atmosphere within the last several years except with some preserved foods that were packaged before the last several years. Also a lot of packaging materials were part of the atmosphere before they became trees that were made into paper. Everything we breathe out came from the atmosphere. It’s a cycle. If we let the powerful people get away with this lie we will be doomed.
i called this years ago.
just a matter of time
( till their final solution ,,,,,again,,)
first they will tax us ,
then they will kill us.
.
Dr Nicholas Cowan can support his claim by not exhaling and show that the CO2 level in the air goes down.
This explains a lot.
OK, I'll cautiously assert that emissions from human breathing are negligible. Happy?
We humans just can’t catch a break. Guess we’ll have to be replaced by robots.
Some of us are the real last signs of intelligent life. Most others? Not so much
Thought it HAD to be a Babylon Bee article!
