In the mating game many if not most will do anything or be anyone to win and believe anything to think they have won. When the game is over pretense disappears.
"Wives and Lovers" is an accurate song but there needs to be one for men as well. Women never learn that boys and men do things to win their approval because they so seldom give it. Reward good behavior, punish or ignore bad but don't ignore everything. They are good at that, ignoring. They dang sure know what they don't like though and make that well known. Eventually even the most ambitious and attentive men give up trying though they stupidly do give it another go from time-to-time out of a misplaced nostalgia hoping to capture an old love. This is why man caves, beer, sports. hunting and fishing came about.
It is seldom that anyone is really happy with the deal they made. Instead, they either divorce or accommodate the situation they are in. With luck they are not alone in making that accommodation complete.
