What are they talking about? I don't remember this pressure for decades? Women have been getting married later and later for decades.

This "pushing back" has been soooo successful too. Women seem refreshingly happy and satisfied these days!
NOT.

It’s likely due to the lack of opportunity for women to reach these milestones than anything else. We’ve made young men more immatire because we’ve removed the opportunity for them to establish themselves.

The findings, uncovered in the 2024 annual dating report from Bumble, shows women are “pushing back” and are instead prioritizing finding the right partner instead of rushing to hit “outdated” goals.
It's not a matter of choice for women - they can't rush to hit those "outdated" goals because the number of men willing to commit to marriage dwindles with every passing year.

I seem to remember some studies show that women in their 40s and 50s who aren't married, and don't have children are the least happy. (Now, there is probably a subset of women who would enjoy that, but it's not the majority.)
Plus, their is a biological factor in all this, that society can't overcome.

Interestingly, 1 in 4 men revealed that they’ve actively changed their behavior when dating, becoming more vulnerable and open with people they’re romantically pursuing than ever before. For a quarter of men, this new-found openness has had a positive impact on their mental health, and for 1 in 3, a lack of vulnerability is now a dating deal-breaker.

I wanna know how Bumble discovered time travel to get the 2024 report in 2023.

... stating 72 percent of women on Bumble are looking for a long-term relationship. “However only 23 per cent are actively seeking out marriage as a goal. This seems to indicate that they are expecting that the "long-term relationship" will eventually end.
I wonder how they feel about being dumped when they're in their late 30s.

I had this interesting thought...what IF today’s man IS seeking to establish himself...as a highly successful woman?

I was just reading a meta-study last week that women perceive that behavior as more feminine and it doesn’t work. (As before, I am sure there are exceptions.)

Our millennial Western society: Women don’t marry and have children, so we must import polygamist Muslims to repopulate.

That’s true of women who are young and “riding the CC”. Things quickly change once they are past the early 30s.

I think our society doesn’t encourage people to learn big picture thinking, or what will really make someone happy vs. what is expected by society?
To: nickcarraway
This only works for a few years. After about age 35, there is going to be a lot of boxed wine and cats and “I won’t settle” echoing through empty hallways.

Are these real women or men pretending to be women?
How can you tell? Who wants to check?

They are not pushing back, they are giving up. NY Post is putting lipstick on a pig. It all boils down to the difficulty of meeting a proper mate using online apps. Men want free sex, women want commitment. The shopping part is complicated by the fact that all of the men are vying for the 10% of the women based on them being most attractive, and all of the women are vying for 10% of the men. That essentially leaves 180% of the population out of the game. Wait. 90%. The top 10% of both cis genders are going to be guaranteed mates. A large proportion of the rest will have to turn gay. I suspect that the reason so many guys are gay is that they can have free sex without commitment.
