That does not give them the authority to execute without hesitation.
Listen... My Father and I were almost shot twice because he had dementia and COULD NOT OBEY CORRECTLY!
So that would have been just? We both deserved to be “put down” because he had a mental illness he couldn’t control?
If I had not yelled “DEMENTIA” as loud as I could we would have both been dead.
My dad was an ex-cop. Does that change the perspective any? Deserved to die anyhow?
Were you or your father endangering the police? They have to assess a lot of different situations quickly. There is no case that is not unique.
I feel ya. My dad has dementia too. I’m thankful for the good ones but yes cops these days are to be avoided if at all possible because many of them are hostile and lack judgement. In fact, in all walks of life people just aren’t the same anymore. :(
