The director of an Alabama high school's band was tasered by police in front of horrified students and arrested after he allegedly refused to stop playing after a football game ended.

Johnny Mims, leader of the band at Minor High School in Adamsville, was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and resisting arrest for encouraging the students to keep playing after the game at the Jackson-Olin High School had concluded on Thursday.

The band had continued to play as police were trying to clear out the stadium following a win by the Minors.

Both the teams band kept playing after the game was over, but the losing team quickly left after police asked, according to police.

Shocking footage shows the moment police tasered Mims as teens scream in the background. The department said in a statement: 'During the officers' interaction with Minor’s band director, the decision was made to place him in custody.

'BPD officers attempted to take the band director into custody for Disorderly Conduct when a physical altercation ensued between the band director, Birmingham City Schools personnel, and BDP officers.

Mims was taken to the hospital, as is protocol after a taser is used, before being booked in a Birmingham jail.

He has since been released on bail, as reported by The Washington Post.

Following backlash, Jefferson County School Superintendent Walter Gonsoulin said on Friday he's gathering facts and urged 'everyone not to jump to conclusions.'

Mims, who has worked at the high school since 2018, appears to be a beloved member of the community, and many have come out to support him and denounce the incident.

This is living in a police state. It doesn’t matter if you actually broke any laws. All that matters is submission to the dictates of the powers that be.

That’s a goon squad of room temperature IQ cops. I’m glad I don’t live near that crap. Now the lawyers get to play.

“That’s a goon squad of room temperature IQ cops.”

Right on the money...

Let me share that I highly respect your integrity to admit that sometimes they can indeed be wrong. Like I mentioned. My father was a cop, my uncle was a cop, and currently my son in law is a cop. I grew up hearing and still hear all the stories that did not make the newspapers. Most incidents never even made it to their CO because it concerned their partners or department peers. I know all about the blue brotherhood of secrecy.

Point is, I used to give full benefit of the doubt to those who actually served, protected, and respected the people. I wanted to be one when I grew up, they were my heroes. Those days are now gone and I can no longer give them the benefit of the doubt. Far too many of these arrogant egotistical authoritarian actions are creating more issues when they were completely unnecessary to begin with.

They themselves instigate and create their own situations that become unsafe for both civilians and themselves with their own egotistical arrogant authoritarianism. They are stepping on their own toes.

It is going to get a hell of a lot worse. The American voter said they wanted to be fundamentally changed via their votes when they elected obama twice, actually three times with Lying Joe Biden. And in all probability, four in 2024. That remains yet to be seen. But when the dust settles , look for Lying Joe Biden to once again occupy the White House. America’s prayers are being answered.

Well...they’re just following orders. That’s not just wise-assery.

My local cops are pretty good. There’s been an effort made by the fringe BLM/antifa/tranny community to run for city council spots, and I don’t doubt that a mayoral run is in the near future. I don’t want that element to have control of a policing power...I suspect that many of the good cops would leave or be fired(defunded).. and any necessary new personnel would be certified lefties.

It will take a little time to get to the hinterlands, but I think the die has been cast. The commie leaders in blue urban areas ought to have their hands full maintaining some semblance of order in their own back yards. Many of those areas have a solid 40% of folks that simply are not on board with total chaos. I wouldn’t be shocked if there were Nat Guard mobilizations next summer. With a Dem in office, election season needs to be about tamping down rioting. Some level of law and order is required. We’ll see if the antifa monster can be controlled.

“Well...they’re just following orders.”

Accepted to a point, but they still have absolute personal officer’s discretion over “how” they carry out those orders. They have the full personal discretion to not exercise the standard protocol of “get on your knees and obey me or be tazed” if it is not actually called for in the situation.

“My local cops are pretty good.”

Actually most here are also and I give them full benefit of the doubt during interactions. But the dept heads are strict conservative constitutionalists and would never put up with this crap from their officers. They actually believe in serve and protect. But I have not always been this fortunate, my own constitutional rights have been violated many times with absolutely no just probable cause or reason to do so.

Looking at the cops in the video, I didn’t get the impression that they did a lot of thinking, nor that I would trust the results if they did. Training, protocols, and the use of force continuum are supposed to keep the cops in line. Qualified immunity might work against that, in certain instances.
It seems that some coordination and communication is in order between the cops and the schools. I suspect that there will be after the lawyers get through with this, and the band director gets a big check.

“It seems that some coordination and communication is in order between the cops and the schools.”

Now there is the question of the day. Did the school even ask them to do this so hastily? Would the school themselves approve of how this was done? Or were these officers just in a hurry because it was almost time to get off shift?

Would they do this because they were wanting to get off for the night? ABSOLUTELY, I have personally seen it before.
