Try to get a fresh salmon head from a Siberian Husky.
You’ll lose a hand.

Tuna has taurine. Lots of it.
Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats.

Get it?

Got it.

Good.
___________

And the cat didn’t have to catch the tuna, their slave did that. Eating something that they themselves could not possibly have obtained by themselves lets the slave (Us) know who the master is.

When we had 8 cats, 4 like thi6ngs, and 4 didn’t. Kind of weird.

Willie The Wonder Cat (RIP) was so attuned to the sound of a can opener, when I opened the kitchen drawer, no matter how quietly, he could hear me pick up the can opener from the 2nd floor and out of a dead sleep. And it wasn’t any other utensils in the drawer that I may have picked out, just the can opener. He evidently associated the sound of the can opener with me opening cans of tuna.

Their ability to sense tuna molecules is astonishing. I used to have a game I played against our cat. I NEVER won! I’d wait until she was asleep, sneak a can out of the cabinet quietly, creep into another room and close the door, and open the can. She was always waiting expectantly outside the door. Her reward was the juice I drained off the tuna. She was the most insane pet we ever owned, but we still talk abut her all these years since she went to that SPCA in the sky. Sigh.

My 4 cats live indoors, all are spayed/neutered-only one ever lived outdoors-a 16 year-old gray female tabby I got as a 2 year old feral rescue at the local shelter-she is the unchallenged alpha cat. My other gray tabby-also female-I got as a 1-1/2 year old from a weird neighbor who was about to just throw her outside because they decided they wanted a dog instead-the cat had never been outdoors and would have been fast food for a coyote or mountain lion-she lives here now, well cared for and in safety.

My two male cats-a black one and a smoke gray one-are 2 and 4 years old respectively-I fostered their moms, found homes for moms and siblings but kept a boy from each litter because they liked human attention from day 1-so they have never had their paws on grass or dirt having been born indoors.

Despite the different life beginnings, all 4 go crazy over any canned cat food that is fish-does not matter what kind of fish-Blue Buffalo is a fave-can says fish and shrimp, but I’m sure that is debatable. So if this article is right, I guess all cat food that contains any shrimp or fish bits is really infused with tuna/the oil from tuna, etc, no mater what it says on the can-so much for truth in advertising...

Duh. It’s fish.

But do they really love it, or is it just that we keep feeding it to them?

Most cats have an aversion to water, so I’ve never understood their fondness for fish.

Whether or not they evolved there, felines were (and are) desert dwellers.

The north african wildcat has been proven genetically to be the forbear of domestic cats. Look it up yourself.
