Good thing this kid was around and he seems like a really good swimmer.
One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to become a good swimmer and obtain the ability to float for hours without having to touch the bottom. This gives you the confidence to be in water that is way over your head.

If he’s not a hero I’m not sure who is.

The three girls in the car had driven off Interstate-10 straight into the water after trying to follow the directions on their GPS...
Couldn't see the road ahead of them. GPSs are dangerous sometimes. I remember being directed towards a road that ran into someone's ranch!

LOL, since everybody got out safely. I learned what you wrote was so true when I got my first GPS and it directed me into some of the strangest places in the world. The thing to remember is it’s not witchcraft, it’s science and the science can goof up.
To: rktman
Amen. Give me an address. I’ll get there.

I wish I could reclaim all of the time I have lost over the years being lost. GPS has been a Godsend for me. My girl brain just does not do maps.

I know plenty of folks who agree with you! I’m sure I’m in the minority about them.
I just like maps and finding my way around with them. :-)

My kids know what maps are, and how to use them
I have some Thomas guides, they are cheap on ebay, never need batteries, and will work after an EMP
And Zombies cannot read them

Believe me, I wish I could follow a map. Fortunately, my husband has excellent skills in that regard.
