Runa Jiang, a hiring manager based in the U.S., often shares various tips and tricks for scoring a new position and giving the best answers in job interviews to TikTok, where she has racked up more than 11,000 followers.
However, she left the internet stunned when she admitted that recruiters often don't look for the most qualified employees, but instead, the people who they believe will last the longest.
She explained that hiring managers don't get paid more depending on how well the people they hire perform, but if they give someone a job who quits soon after, it looks bad on them - so they're often on the hunt for people who they think pose the 'least amount of risk.'
She shared her findings in a TikTok video which has since gone viral on the streaming platform, gaining more than 479,000 views and surprising many social media users.
'Did you really think that companies try to hire the best most qualified candidates? Well they don't, and I can let you know why,' she began in the clip.
'As a hiring manager, they don't get paid more because you perform outstandingly. But they do get penalized if their candidates keep quitting early or disobey authority.'
Runa added that people with the most 'experience and intelligence' are often the ones who leave a job the quickest, so sometimes what can seem like a positive quality can actually negatively impact you during an interview.

They hire for "Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity" ... and then they DIE.
Looks tranny
Now the public schools should do the same thing accepting only the least risky potential students who are not hellbent on taking out their classmates.
Never hire someone with purple hair, she will be a Problem and in a big way someday
‘You’ll be the highest-paid janitor in America, just please don’t hurt me.”
Least risky means you can’t sue them if you turn out to be unqualified. That rules out one race.
Purple hair, nose rings, neck and facial tats. Ugh.
I can understanding avoiding somebody with a record of job hopping. Or somebody that seems to have trouble getting along with others or who seems to see the job as a platform for some agenda.
Always the dumbest, most woke people in a company.
They possess way too much power.
And the safest isn’t the full truth.
Engineering firms are trying to find non retarded women and minorities...
Nothing new about this, most hiring managers go for who will “best fit in” over most qualified. They don’t anyone to rock the boat if they can help it.
The two most experienced people on my team (includes me) are the lowest paid people on the team. It’s a function of supply and demand. The newest person (3 weeks) is the highest paid programmer on the team.
Well, I sort of get this, looking for the least risky employees...
In a world where lawyers and judges are the most dangerous predators, it makes sense to be risk averse.
Most employees are hired to make the company money or to allow the company to keep making money. For example, an accountant allows the company to make money but doesn’t directly make money for the company. Well the honest ones anyway…
You described damn near every HR person out there under 60 years old.
I actually had one tell me at a company "holiday" party that white males posed the safest hiring choice because you could get rid of them with damn near zero repercussions. Of course, he had a few drinks in him at the time.
I have worked with many non retarded women, and for as well.
my last direct female boss had multiple degrees in advanced math and computer science.
I worked onboarding a team from india with one . Indian woman who I would wager was smarter than the rest of their team put together, but they treated her like dirt.
on the other hand, Buffy and Orchid were entertaining.
I think it is largely industry dependent.
Most women don’t want to work in electrical distribution.
Especially in Philly...
Most of the EE and ChemE females I know wind up in management in a short span of years. One I know is a PhD in ChemE doing something beyond my comprehension.
That said there are always outliers. Not many Hedy Lamar type people...
There’s a reason in utility companies that the call center is almost 100% black.
Risk advisor using tik tok 🤪
HR departments were created to grapple with crippling government regulation and EEOC intimidation.
These and other questionable practices were started surfacing two decades ago resulting in a thorough evaluation of HR and its functions. The results showed the unwarranted growth of HR and compensation for HR staff. A steady accrual of influence and power was also noted as were trends in hiring and the profiles of people hired. Senior management was astounded at the results of the evaluation. The evaluation was met with resistance from HR. Unsuccessful lawsuits were initiated by the HR function and the clandestine destruction of company records. A total housecleaning of HR followed. The HR directorate was reduced to a department. Staff, functions, and scope were also reduced. Other than receiving and circulating job applications, and scheduling interviews, HR reverted to little more than pure administrative functions. A committee on corporate culture was formed from corporate executives, senior and junior management, and line employees. Membership was rotating with a twelve month membership and staggered appointment dates for the sake of consistency. Time and space constrains me from going into the extent damage done by the old HR regime. There was no denying that a clandestine infiltration was attempted by HR management. Over a period of several years a number of managers from several levels were quietly replaced from different areas. In almost all cases the effected areas were considered as strategic positions. Commensurate with the HR housecleaning an outside investigation firm was contracted. The results of their investigation has be closely held by company executives but it is my understanding the our company was one of many targeted by political activists.
