Why is she allowed to remain in the GOP?Because she is a favorite of the real powers in the smoke filled room that run the GOP behind the scenes. In other words, she IS the GOP as far as DC insiders are concerned. She's not going anywhere unless the voters can her and if that happens look for her to be put into a top role in the GOP.
