About 50 years ago, a shooter made headlines for injuring (and killing, if I remember right) multiple women in a beauty shop in Mesa, AZ. A friend’s mother patronized that shop, but was lucky.
Safe spaces weren’t safe then, either.

Let me talk about the blame for the incident in New York State. This is not a false flag thing. There have been three of these in the last week. Not even liberals are this insane. One was a Chinese guy shooting other Chinese because he didn’t like Taiwanese, and the other was a black dude who shot up a Korean beauty salon. Bidet did not go visit the survivors of the other events
Instead of wondering if this is a false flag, why don’t we expect this to happen because of the curriculum used in public education?
In school, the guy was told, “You are a racist from the day you are born. Your personal history is irrelevant. There is nothing to do about it. It doesn’t matter how you act or treat people. It does not matter how hard you try or even if you try to overcome it, you are a racist!!!! You are a filthy, ignorant oppressor who just by breathing oppresses everyone else!!!!!!! The color of your skin means you are a racist!!!! Your parents are racist, as are your grandparents, and everyone you are descended from for 1,500,865,987 years. Even nature, math, grammar, science, diseases, and the air we breath are racist. This message is reinforced in the media and politics and by stupid virtue-signaling narcissists.
Maybe, just *&^%&^! he believed what the public schools told him and said to himself, “Hey if they’re gonna believe I am anyway, I might as well act like it!”

If others had been armed some lives would have likely been lost anyway but it could have been fewer if someone was armed and could shoot back.

It sounds like he may have had brain damage and possible PTSD from the savage beating, possible onset of dementia, his life came apart, he lost everything he worked for all his life, likely homeless at the age of 68 (and good luck renting another place if you discharged a firearm in your last digs).

Anyway, perhaps he began ruminating about his childhood or youth in Taiwan (as old people with broken brains often do) and somehow his broken brain fixated on Taiwanese as a target for his anger and frustration and despair.
Chou is a Han name. 97% of Taiwanese are Han. It wasn’t about race or ethnicity, although the islander vs mainlander thing may have been a factor. But for all he knew, the people he planned to murder were from mainlander families, too. The Buffalo mass shooting all over the news was likely an influence.
None of it makes sense, but broken brains just don’t make sense.
Back to race and racism. Again, I agree, this fixation on race and racism is dividing us and creating hostile feelings toward other races in people who never had such feelings before, whatever color their skin happens to be.
How I wish we would go back to “content of your character, not the color of your skin” as being paramount. Now it’s all about “the color of your skin, nevermind character — but the contents of your virtue-signalling tweets count.”
The security guard (retired cop) was armed and shot the kid several times, but he was wearing some serious body armor and helmet, so it didn’t stop him. The kid fired back and killed the armed security guard.
I’m not sure armed civilians in the store would have had much more success, but I don’t know that much about guns.

You have not been following the story. The Buffalo shooter described himself as once being hardcore communist, and then later as “center-left authoritarian” or suchlike. Certainly nothing like what Dick Durbin had the temerity of accusing Tucker Carlson of being, just recently.

So it would be better to blame “replacement theory” as CNN, MSDNC, Dick Durbin, Liz Cheney ad nauseam have already done, or by extension (although unrelated) Trump supporters?
