JFK Assassination Expert: Lee Harvey Oswald Lone Gunman Theory Is ‘XXXXXXXX’

Dr. Cyril Wecht distrusts the US government. And he’s proud of it. The forensic pathologist — who declared in 1978 that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone in assassinating President John F. Kennedy — is now 90 and still sticking to his story.

Wecht’s latest book, “The JFK Assassination Dissected” (Exposit Books), summarizes his six decades of research into the subject, and pokes holes in the conclusion made by the seven-man Warren Commission that Oswald, without any help, shot and killed Kennedy when his motorcade drove past the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.

“Young people are still being taught that the 35th president was murdered by a lone gunman, and that is simply xxxxxxxxx,” Wecht boomed during an interview at his modest office in downtown Pittsburgh last month.

Oswald wasn't aiming for the car. He hit and killed JFK, wounded Connolly and he later killed Officer J.D. Tippit. You conspiracy hounds have never offered any solid proof of a second gun man and the simple fact no one has ever come forward with any points to the fact Oswald acted alone.

To those who have actually followed this over the years and read lots of books, seen lots of tapes, etc, I think the bumbling secret service guy being the second, and kill shot, makes the most sense. The end of story is the public will never know. I was in the 8th grade, came out during lunch to see our teacher crying listening to the radio. We all sat with her and listened to the radio for quite awhile and then went home. Yes I went to a one room school house, they still had those in 1963.

I have no conspiracy theories. In my original post I said, “ There may be no answer, but at least you have not believed the Warren Commission.”

That shot would not have been made with an inferior rifle and inferior ammunition at 90 yards at a moving target.

As bad a shot Oswald was as a Marine he did qualify as one. If he had not been able to shoot he’d never have been given The Globe And Anchor, would he?

Precisely. As I've pointed out, in his short pathetic life Oswald did one thing prior to the infamy he committed in Dallas.

He became a United States Marine. And even though he was not the best shot he did qualify sufficiently enough to earn The Globe And Anchor of a United States Marine. So, as cheap as the surplus era Italian carbine that he used was, it was enough for a former Marine to shoot and kill JFK and wound the governor of Texas.

Here’s the bottom line for you and everyone else who has been bamboozled by Arlen Specter. There have only been TWO official investigations of the JFK assassination, and the main conclusion of the first official investigation was judged to be UNSUBSTANTIATED by the second official investigation. END OF STORY!

in the early 90’s, me and a friend went to the Museum at the Texas School Book Depository...and looked out the very window on the 6th floor....that area where the shooting took place is much smaller than people think....with a scope on a rifle, not a difficult shot at all...

He qualified twice as a Marine, but never expert, and then only with semiautomatic rifles and iron sights.

My guess is there are so many conspiracy theories around, because the Warren Commission offers such a low bar for credibility that people latch onto ideas that should be unacceptable. Probably the best evidence results in no alternate conclusion and that is where my interest ends.

My oldest brother was a lieutenant in the Marine Corps in the '70s. At some point when he was stationed at Camp Pendelton he went with a fellow officer to Dealy Plaza. His friend was a Texan but I don't recall if he was from Dallas. He said the exact same thing you did about how small the whole area is.
