The homeless population in Honolulu can expect a visit sometime soon from a robotic police dog that will scan your eye to make sure you don't have a fever
Spot, as its called, is a new law enforcement tool that some police departments are employing for various policing purposes
Police experimenting with the four-legged machines say they're just another tool to keep emergency responders out of harm's way as they scout for dangers
In Honolulu, the police department spent about $150,000 in federal pandemic relief money to buy their Spot from robotics firm Boston Dynamics
The robotic police dog is being used to help test for high body temperatures at a government-run tent city near the airport in an effort to curb COVID-19
Dutch police earlier this year used the robotic dog to check for dangerous chemicals at the site of a deadly drug lab explosion
But privacy watchdogs warn that police are secretly rushing to buy the robots without setting safeguards against aggressive, invasive or dehumanizing uses
There are roughly 500 Spot robots now in the wild

No time travel this time.
I would think that covid is the least of your worries with deranged meth heads.
This is right out of Fahrenheit 451
Flush with CARES Act cash, the Honolulu Police Department has spent millions on what one officer called “toys.”

Easily sabotaged.
Every contact with the homeless is designed to enable and validate their lifestyle. They’re encouraged to continue life just as it is.
Satire? Or the latest Bill Gates idea?
Be sold for scrap...lol
Hawaii is great for homeless. It never gets too hot or too cold. Great to sleep outdoors.
When I am going to become homeless, I will spend my last money on one way ticket to Hawaii! Promise!
The Soylent Green front end loaders are on back order—but the Bidet administration is gonna bring ‘em out soon.
All aboard!
And loose them all on Congress and the WH.
Why does a Dutch police officer have English language badge on his uniform?
I say good idea. If the meth head cops an attitude, I hope Spot lifts his leg and sprays him down with skunky bot-pee. If there’s pushback on that, turn on the 10Kv circuit for a few seconds.
The Border Patrol can do with a bunch of these too, I think.
“Why does a Dutch police officer have English language badge on his uniform?”
The dutch don’t trust the english.
Supposedly 90% to 93% of the population speaks English.
