Yes, waiting until April 30 is already a huge mistake. Many businesses will shutter for good the longer the shutdown lasts.
OTOH, with the abortion bans taking effect, maybe keep the state of emergency in place for another 10 years.

As we see, things change very quickly each day. Every day things get better and we know more. By the time Apr 30 comes, we will definitely have lower infections and less deaths. IMO, the HYQ drug will be common knowledge by then and even used as a prophylactic. If you have no symptoms and the infections in your county are falling or non existant, you can go back to work as long as you continue social distancing. In my county in Texas we have 2 cases since the beginning. The counties surrounding me all have less than 10 infections combined since the beginning. Many counties in Texas have zero even today. More than half of the counties in the US have 10 infections or less.
IMO, Trump know it costs 10's of billions of dollars per day to stay shut down. There is food rotting in warehouses as we speak. Farmers can't just grow a new crop in weeks. Businesses will be closing with lost jobs forever if something doesn't happen quick. Trump will send people back to work no matter what it looks like. To ask for trillions more dollars for something preventable is suicide for the US.
If not April 30,....when? We can't stay shut till June because a few hundred people continue to get sick.
We will get a couple of bottles of HYQ and be ordered back to work and to continue keeping our distance and masks will be suddenly be good to wear if you don't have the virus.

No, if we relax and this all starts up all over again we’re screwed. Believe it or not not everyone is unconcerned about getting this virus. There are a lot of deaths in my state (not in NY) and we have no idea if our states are treating with HCQ/Zinc, it’s all kept secret. We might ask for it and they say “No”. I am pretty healthy, but I am not sure I will survive it and neither are you.

Rural Texas doesn’t have the population density to sustain rapid community spreading. Dallas on the otherhand is still in exponential growth and won’t peak until sometime in May if people obey social distancing. If people just come out and go right back to being all over the place the cases will explode in high density Dallas. We need antibodies testing, once identified as having antibodies at a certain level which grants immunity then we should flag those people much like China does with a green QR code on the cellphone this will be the passport to enter free movement and social gatherings. Those green pass people should be put to work immediately if they are a critical need worker in their fields if not then they should be drafted into critical need fields offended training and compensation especially if their existing jobs are furloughed. Once a company has say 50% of greenpass employees they can open up for other immunes as customers. This builds the numbers of herd immunity up and allows the immune to get the economy rolling. At no point should nonimmunes be allowed to congregate that’s inviting disaster.
I think we should microchip those that have anti-bodies and in order to pass through certain way-points you have to be scanned. Perhaps to speed things up the microchip could have a red blinking light behind the left ear or something like that /sarc ....
WITTKOWSKI: My name is Knut Wittkowski. I was at the Rockefeller University for 20 years, Head of the Department of Biostatistics Epidemiology and Research Design, and before that, I worked for 15 years with Klaus Dietz, one of the leading epidemiologists in the world in the German town of Tubingen in the Eberhard Karls University.
WITTKOWSKI: As with every respiratory disease, we should protect the elderly and fragile because when they get pneumonia, they have a high risk of dying of the pneumonia. So that is one of the key issues that we should keep in mind. On the other hand, children do very well with these diseases. They’re evolutionarily designed to be exposed to all sorts of viruses during their lifetime, and so they should keep going to school and infecting each other. Then, that contributes to herd immunity, which means after about four weeks at the most, the elderly people could start joining their family because then the virus would have been extinguished.
WITTKOWSKI: With all respiratory diseases, the only thing that stops the disease is herd immunity. About 80% of the people need to have had contact with the virus, and the majority of them won’t even have recognized that they were infected, or they had very, very mild symptoms, especially if they are children. So, it’s very important to keep the schools open and kids mingling to spread the virus to get herd immunity as fast as possible, and then the elderly people, who should be separated, and the nursing homes should be closed during that time, can come back and meet their children and grandchildren after about 4 weeks when the virus has been exterminated.
WITTKOWSKI: Well, what people are trying to do is flatten the curve. I don’t really know why. But, what happens is if you flatten the curve, you also prolong, to widen it, and it takes more time. And I don’t see a good reason for a respiratory disease to stay in the population longer than necessary.
WITTKOWSKI: We had two other SARS viruses before. Or, coronaviruses. It’s not the first coronavirus that comes out, and it won’t be the last. And for all respiratory diseases, we have the same type of an epidemic. If you leave it alone, it comes for two weeks, it peaks, and it goes for two weeks and it’s gone.
WITTKOWSKI: Well, I’m not paid by the government, so I’m entitled to actually do science. If the government, if there had been no intervention, the epidemic would have been over, like every other respiratory disease epidemic.
WITTKOWSKI: Okay. If we had herd immunity now, there couldn’t be a second wave in autumn. Herd immunity lasts for a couple of years, typically, and that’s why the last SARS epidemic we had in 2003, it lasted 15 years for enough people to become susceptible again so that a new epidemic could spread of a related virus. Because typically, there is something that requires cross-immunity, so if you were exposed to one of the SARS viruses, you are less likely to fall ill with another SARS virus. So, if we had herd immunity, we wouldn’t have a second wave. However, if we are preventing herd immunity from developing, it is almost guaranteed that we have a second wave as soon as either we stop the social distancing or the climate changes with winter coming or something like that.
WITTKOWSKI: We should be resisting, and we should, at least, hold our politicians responsible. We should have a discussion with our politicians. One thing we definitely need to do, and that would be safe and effective, is opening schools. Let the children spread the virus among themselves, which is a necessity to get herd immunity. That was probably one of the most destructive actions the government has done. We should focus on the elderly and separating them from the population where the virus is circulating. We should not prevent the virus from circulating among school children, which is the fastest way to create herd immunity.
WITTKOWSKI: I think people in the United States and maybe other countries as well are more docile than they should be. People should talk with their politicians, question them, ask them to explain, because if people don’t stand up to their rights, their rights will be forgotten. I’m Knut Wittkowski. Agreed. With the lower death projections, no reason to keep the entire nation on lockdown! He needs to start showing the Americans this is ending and recovery is now the issue.
