The military will do its best to uphold the constitution.
Constitution, you know, that set of writings that progressives have never read.

I would hope so.
Heres a very unpleasant - but possible - scenario. We know the House Democrats hate Trump. So they decide to impeach Trump over some minor thing. That would be quite legal, as the Constitution gives the House the sole power to decide just what an impeachable offense is.
Then the Senate surprisingly convicts Trump. Too many GOP senators fold to Deep State pressure.
In this scenario, both the House and the Senate acted in a disgusting, yet legal and constitutional manner. What would the military do in that case? Would it be best for the country if they do nothing?
RE: “Following the Constitution” —I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.
Military units vary greatly. The single most important variable is the quality of the leadership. Therefore, the units will most likely do what their commanders tell them. If that is “Constitutional” great! But what if it isn’t?
I don’t think you’ll see units mutiny against their officers. If that were to seem likely I don’t think the units would leave barracks. Though I’d be interested in other opinions.
Considering how the military was treated under Obama’s 8 years, with the total support of the Dems, I say they will back Trump very strongly.
If a civil war erupts its all on the rats and their followers we will be the ones to clean up
Dont forget that the majority of the military combat clout rests currently in the state national guards. During Civil War #1 the lack of technology kept ideology limited to local culture. That kept things simple. In the 21st century, with a civilian population extremely mobile, it probably wont be quite so clear cut.
However, the spine of the war fighting capabilities are always found in the enlisted and noncommissioned officers has historically remained fairly stable and culturally rooted in an originalist view of the Constitution.
