According to poll results, IrishCentral readers believe President Donald Trump should be banned from Ireland.
Almost three in four IrishCentral readers believe that US President Donald Trump should be banned from Ireland because of hate speech, according to the result of a poll conducted on the site.
When faced with the question "Does President Trump deserve to be banned from Ireland for hate speech?" 73.87% of readers voted 'yes' while only 24.32% voted against. The remaining 1.81% were uncertain. The total number of those polled reached 551 readers.
"We here in America have to listen to enough of it. Theres no need to allow him to spread hate throughout the world," stated one reader.

Another added: "Mr. Trump purports to have the utmost respect for the Constitution of the United States, but the many examples of his hate speech belie this. Freedom does not mean that individuals can do ANYTHING they want- and freedom of speech does not mean individuals can say ANYTHING they want. Inherent in our global human rights is the overriding tenet that our freedoms do not include the right to impinge on the rights of others to not be demeaned, degraded or disenfranchised. I have always believed that the Irish are a people of high integrity and strong morals. I pray that Ireland will stand up tall on the world stage for the rights of all~ and ban Mr. Trump."
Those who argued against stated "he is a good man" and that "he is the President of the largest economy and free democracy in the world. Even you don't like the man, you should respect the office he represents."
President Trump is believed to be visiting Ireland in June but several groups are already mounting in protest against the trip.
Last week US pastor Steve Anderson became the first person to be banned from Ireland under the 1999 Immigration Act.

The Holocaust denier and fundamentalist American preacher was due to speak in Dublin on May 26 but is now banned from traveling to Ireland by the Irish government after several petitions called attention to his visit.
Thanks I will try it.
Have Lucerne plain cream cheese in the fridge right now. The tub of easy to spread kind.
When did the Irish become such little weenie girls? Is there no longer a man among them?
It’s kind of “embarrassing” actually to see them “bare their ass” like this.
No one.
I think the only Irish worth anything migrated long ago to the US. The brain-drain has left the island at a great loss.
The poor 73%ers in this poll are victims of another SMEAR. Probably by a David Brock nonprofit that has made him mega millions....yeah, some nonprofit.
Read the book, The Smear, by Sharyl Attkisson. Protect yourselves!!
I’m Irish down both lines, mother and father.
And I’ve despised Ireland since they sat out
WWII to spite the English.
Just to be sure, I read up on the Troubles and come to
the conclusion of ‘a pox on both their houses.’
Don’t get me wrong, I tear up at
Riverdance, but that’s a visceral
thing, along with loving and
marrying redheads. But Ireland?
A waste of good dirt.
If an American president really wanted to walk the Glennis of Ireland there wouldn't be a damned thing that you could do about it.
It appears that your English overlords staved and drove all of the best Irishmen and only the boot-licking dregs were left to breed away in order to work the fields as beasts of burden.
Sad.
What “hate speech”? I’ve never once heard him say anything hateful or untrue.
Absolutely false. Popular speech is easy. It is unpopular speech that must be protected for free speech to have meaning.
The quote is right out of Orwell. It is 1984 in newspeak.
saying something is inherent often means I have no facts or support
I was told all the good Irish left long ago.
Shut yer fecking gobs all of ya! Jesus, Mary and Joseph am I ever so glad me ancestors left dat shitte hole!
More propaganda. What hate speech, for goodness sakes? Lies lies lies lies lies. About all we get from the commie Nazi left wingers are lies.
Ha ha ha. Why would he ever want to go to Europe?
One would hope that any honest, intelligent, informed Irishman would question how these results could be so totally skewed absent very successful media propaganda.
How ‘bout it Eire, that too much to ask?
No it is not too much to ask but perhaps we can undertake to understand it.
English colonial occupation of Ireland drove the people into a desperate even primitive poverty even before the potato famine. They were forced to concentrate on ever smaller patches left them by their absentee landlords and they were, in effect, forced to exist on the potato with hopefully enough scraps left over to maintain a pig.
These were the kinds of conditions, but much more benign, which caused us Americans to revolt. The Irish to their credit rebelled for hundreds of years. It is not surprising that in their desperation they rejected everything British and clutched at any ideology which even arguably supported their plight. Hence the strong flavor of socialism, even communism, that infected Ireland and especially the IRA and those extremists who were willing to engage in terrorism in defense of their ideology and their religion.
This is indeed fertile ground for leftist propaganda. The absence of contrary media to debunk leftist propaganda is not unique to Ireland, virtually the whole of Western Europe suffers from it. I remember posting years ago in Free Republic that the whole idea that anyone's subjective reaction to speech was justification enough to suppress so-called offensive speech was terribly dangerous and would ultimately lead to tyranny. Yes we have prohibitions against slander and libel, although limited when applied to public figures, and we have laws against clear and present danger of inciting violence but these exceptions to free speech enjoy a long tradition in the Anglo-Saxon world and do not significantly restrain political free speech which, after all, is the bulwark against tyranny.
This pernicious doctrine of hate speech which depends entirely on the subjective reaction of the listener, is not new but it is metastasizing in America and has virtually taken over the Democrat party.
I am not surprised that 73% of Ireland is misinformed when nearly 50% of America voted for Hillary Clinton.
Dear Irish lefties:
P’ogg Mahoinn!

our freedoms do not include the right to impinge on the rights of others to not be demeaned, degraded or disenfranchised
These people do not understand freedom of speech. Freedom of speech has to include the freedom to offend. If there is a right not to be offended, there is no freedom of speech. Almost any meaningful speech is bound to offend somebody.
I had no idea that Ireland had such a high percentage of self-righteous people.
Meanwhile, Ireland crawls into bed with the mullahs.
