Did a Queens Podiatrist Help Donald Trump Avoid Vietnam? [barf alert]
New York Slimes via MSN ^ | 12/26/2018 | Steve Eder

In the fall of 1968, Donald J. Trump received a timely diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels that led to his medical exemption from the military during Vietnam.

For 50 years, the details of how the exemption came about, and who made the diagnosis, have remained a mystery, with Mr. Trump himself saying during the presidential campaign that he could not recall who had signed off on the medical documentation.

Now a possible explanation has emerged about the documentation. It involves a foot doctor in Queens who rented his office from Mr. Trump’s father, Fred C. Trump, and a suggestion that the diagnosis was granted as a courtesy to the elder Mr. Trump.

The podiatrist, Dr. Larry Braunstein, died in 2007. But his daughters say their father often told the story of coming to the aid of a young Mr. Trump during the Vietnam War as a favor to his father.

“I know it was a favor,” said one daughter, Dr. Elysa Braunstein, 56, who along with her sister, Sharon Kessel, 53, shared the family’s account for the first time publicly when contacted by The New York Times.

Elysa Braunstein said the implication from her father was that Mr. Trump did not have a disqualifying foot ailment. “But did he examine him? I don’t know,” she said. …

Didn’t the same malady cost him a shot at pro baseball tryouts?

Two things

The doc is dead for over eleven years

These jackholes just openly violated HIPAA laws. Since they are docs they should be prosecuted

And one more item.... No chart would ever show “done as a favor “

Bill Clinton lowered the bar so low for CIC that even if it is true it doesn’t matter anymore.

Bill Clinton was DRAFTED and refused to serve, fled his country in wartime and then used his political contacts in Arkansas Senator Fullbright’s office where Clinton worked as an aide when attending Georgetown college in DC.

Once you were DRAFTED you had to be inducted into the military as it was federal law. Lots dodged the draft by staying in college, getting married, having kids etc. But no one to my knowledge was actually DRAFTED and refused to serve as Bill Clinton did.

Kerry didn’t get that sort of favoritism. He had to go to Vietnam and was cruising up the river in Cambodia on Christmas 50 years ago. He served his country heroically proven by his 3 purple hearts for splinters.

Then there’s the bulk of Dems that avoided going into the military like schmucker himself. But no one questions why he never spent a day in service. This draft Dodger never has been questioned on his draft evasion.

I believe College Deferments and a high Lottery number let Trump avoid going to Vietnam.

My number was 207, but two of my friends ended up #1 and #3.

They both joined the Air Force the very next week. One ended up Stateside and the other one ended up in Vietnam.

It’s interesting that a publication and the media as a whole thought draft dodgers were the greatest thing ever during Vietnam and Kerry’s running from Naval service was perfectly ok now think everyone should have been there no matter what their reasons for not going. How many of the senior Times folks were in Vietnam as military members?

Well, it’s the same old Alinsky tactic of trying to make “the enemy” live up to the same book of rules (i.e. the law) that everyone ought to while it’s okay for the left to ignore those rules. Alinsky did not tell anyone that double standard equals automatic fail for the radicals.

All I can go on is what people tell me. I actually only ask if the individual served in the military. Some just answer the question; others volunteer more details. I’ve been told flat feet (and other foot issues), poor eyesight, hearing problems, high blood pressure, too short, and so forth. Some of them were attempting to volunteer.

It may have made a difference who the doctors were making the determination and how closely or loosely they followed guidelines.

Correct. If you showed up at Ft Hamilton for a pre ind physical with a doctor’s excuse that is the first thing they checked you for. My pre i d found highBP which surprised me. They gave ne a form for my MD to follow and fill out, three consecutice days of BP measurement, and they still called me back twice.

The article also treats “done as a favor” as something obviously illicit. That’s not neccesarily the case.

It’s entirely possible that President Trump mentioned to his dad that he was having foot problems. To which his dad might have responded, oh, there’s a podiatrist over in such and such building, let me give him a call. Nothing “sinister” and not uncommon. The implication is that it was a “fix” to prevent DJT from being drafted but that’s not by any means the only possible explanation.

For that matter, nor is that the only explanation for Trump Sr’s good treatment of the podiatrist (taking care of problems in the rental property, not raising the rent, etc). It could (easily) boil down to trying to keep a good tenant who pays his rent on time and doesn’t cause damage or other problems. problems.

The “story” is speculation and innuendo.

Oh my, this must be an impeachable offense!

Have the daughter swear to an FBI Agent what happened and then we can have the doctor loose his license to try to flip on Trump.....oh, he is dead? Darn. Well maybe we can indict the daughter to get her to flip on Trump? She didn't make the medical determination? Darn. Maybe we can find the dead doctors records! That is it, let the FBI without or with search warrants ransack the dead doctors records! We must find something to impeach Trump with.....there is no Russia collusion, so we must find something.

This kangaroo court is becoming too obvious even for the liberals, with the exception of the NYSlimes.
