JAPANESE peace campaigners have written to US President Donald Trump urging him to declare the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings a war crime.
A copy of the letter from the Society for Requiring the Admission of Historic Responsibility of the US Government for Dropping Atomic Bombs on Japan, dated today was sent to the Morning Star.
“This indiscriminate mass killing should not be forgiven, because it was a crime against humanity,” it read, pointing to the 340,000 deaths from the bombings on August 6 and 9 in 1945.
But Washington continues to justify the atrocities “with the excuse that they hastened the end of the protracted war” and saved lives.
The group said that former US president Harry Truman’s claim after ordering the bombing that a million US troops would have died invading Japan was “false.”
It said General Douglas MacArthur and other commanders estimated a maximum of 66,000 casualties, a quarter of them fatal.
The snowflakes said there would have been 66,000 casualties.

When someone close to the invasion planning was asked what it would cost in lives to land on the Tokyo Plain
and other places in Japan. It was General Marshall’s opinion that such an invasion would cost at a
minimum one quarter million casualties, and might cost as much as a million, on the American side alone.

I read they dropped leaflets telling the residence to leave. Don’t know if it’s really true or Fake news from the 40’s.

IIRC 0bama was going to apologize to Japan for the Hiroshima bombing, but the Japanese prime minister talked 0bama out of it. The Japanese government knows that if they get an apology for Hiroshima and Nagasaki people will bring up all of the atrocities committed by the Japanese. The Japanese don’t want to talk about World WarII.
Pelosi did.
Hmmm, time to pick up from Okinawa and let Japan take care of itself with danger from N. Korea. This is not the time Japan should be making demands about war casualties for which Japan made the initial and subsequent warfare confrontations.

Those bombs saved more Jap lives than American lives.
After one bomb they still wanted to keep fighting. After two bombs many of them still wanted to keep fighting. A land invasion would have ended when the last farmer’s child was shot down as they rushed the American lines with a pitch fork.
Okinawa was a taste of what would have happened:
14,009 Allied deaths.
77,417 Japanese soldiers dead.
Allied grave registration forces counted 110,071 dead bodies of Japanese soldiers, but this included drafted Okinawans wearing Japanese uniforms.
149,425 Okinawan civilians were killed, committed suicide or went missing, a significant proportion of the estimated pre-war 300,000 local population.
I wonder what these “peace” activists are doing about the Rape of Nanking or untold other episodes by the Japs during WWII?
I’m sure that the Japanese people are better off today than if they had won WWII under their military Emperor rule if it still existed today. (I’m guessing folks have studied and researched that.)
I imagine living in a country where the leaders think training their young men to aim their airplanes at the enemy is a good tactic - probably isn’t the greatest place to live in. (Libya, Afghanistan, etc. are modern examples).

I suspect that EVEN SNOWFLAKES would have trouble apologizing to Japan if they were taught things like how the Japanese cut the limbs off of Western POWs in order to cook them (i.e., cannibalize them), but still kept them alive so that the rest of the ‘meat’ would not spoil in the steamy jungles of Asia, until they were hungry again.
