My Acer Iconia tablet does everything an iPad does (and more) for just CAD$120.

Samsung’s corporate president does not lecture me about Indiana gay wedding cakes, so that is a big plus right there...

I have been running a Note 2 for the last 2 years. I am a big fan. Replaceable batteries are a must when I am in the field... got a standalone charger and 2 spare batteries, so every morning when I am heading out into da bushes I am good for an 18 hour day.

I went from a HTC One+ that gave me 6-8 hours of battery life...and it was NOT replaceable. The G3 does have a replaceable battery if ever required.

My G3, under same operating criteria, gives me 24hrs easily. The large capacity 3000mA battery recharges VERY fast with the supplied charger.

When I went from KK to LP, there was an app that began draining the battery. After that app was updated, battery drain returned to normal 24+ hrs.

Finally, no overheating whatsoever although recharging does get slightly warm.

I can’t overemphasized the sleek factor with the beveled sides vs the clunky, squared edge of Samsung/Apple and all the others.

Hope that helps - good luck with your choice.

got a standalone charger

Had one for the Note 2 and got one for the Note 4 even though battery life is better and the charging is faster. Hate that they glued the S6 back shut, so to speak.

Apple products are for the dumb liberals that can’t handle much more than a single button on their mouse or their phone.

Apple, the company that brags it took in record profits but refuses to hire Americans workers because they say it would cost too much. That, and they keep the money outside the US to avoid paying taxes. Real great Amercian (Not!) company there. Those liberals vote for the people that created the tax and employment situation then avoid working within that system.

Anti-American Apple are nothing but cheats, liars, and liberals, but I repeat myself.

“Apple still wins for computers, but I like my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Pro far more than their iPhone and iPad equivalents. There is some very nice music production software written exclusively for iOS, but I do all of that on my Mac, anyway. “

Agree 100%. And my Samsung Pad has been great, and the camera on it is incredible. Not often written about, but it is.

I have the S4, wife has the S5 Note. They work great, good battery life and memory.

Iphone? I’d be more likely to by the Futurama version Eye-Phone. Mom said it best at the end of the episode when all of the mind-numbed fans of the product queued up and marched blindly to buy the next upgrade; “Dumb Bastards”.

I have used, windows, Linux, OS X and Chome. Note I just got a ChomeBox as a media server and it is impressive as a basic on-line computer. Also for this application I cut the cord (no cable).

So all have advantages and disadvantages. I used to think OS X would be the one to replace Windows but it was not the one. I then explored Linux and found it also was not the one. Linux is a great option for old computers offering very low cost computing power. But Chome is very interesting and is a good alternative to OS X for many people. Apple builds very nice hardware but their price points leave most out of the market. Now that some of Apple's design, styling, ect. are being copied by others such as Dell and builders of Chomebooks, it is going to be interesting for Apple.

Well, I'm going to jump in here and add my 2 cents.....

First off, I was probably one of the last people on earth to finally ditch my land line and get a state of the art Motorola Razr flip phone (well not really but you know what I mean)........that's what I'm using.

I've been wanting to get a smart phone or I Phone for months now, not for need but to at least stay up with technology or else end up like that person who still has their rotary dial telephone.

Every person I talk to has their smart phone and they each tell me why it's great. I've checked with several cell phone providers who offer "specials", including my ATT phone provider that is offering me an update for free but after analyzing all the providers, there isn't anything free since their rates hide the fact that they're charging you for the cost of the new phone......

So, I'm in a quandry here, not only do I not know what kind of a new phone to buy, I have no idea how to decipher all the alleged deals these providers are offering that would maximize my purchase cost as well as my monthly usage bill.

FWIW, I'm only paying about $47 per month for my ATT phone bill on my flip phone.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me.........thank you

ATT bought Cricket. They are now using ATT equipment for all the Cricket accounts. I pay $45 a month for unlimited everything. You might want to check into it. I have been with them for years. No contract, buy the phone outright or they do have promotions for rebates on phones. Sometimes free ones. https://www.cricketwireless.com/

You can also use just about any unlocked GSM phone on their system. Just buy a sim card and activate at a store. I bought a galaxy mega on ebay and upgraded without a hitch.

Dual-core iPhone 6 graphics performance crushes Samsung’s octa-core Galaxy S6
iPhone 6 Galaxy S6 Comparison
By Zach Epstein — BGR.com — Apr 1, 2015 at 9:30 AM

Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge feature fresh new designs, better build quality, new software, the best smartphone displays on the planet and cutting-edge new internal components that represent huge leaps forward in many key areas. As we discussed in our Galaxy S6 review, all of this combines to create a fantastic experience that is far better than anything Samsung has ever released in the past.

As it turns out though, some of that cutting-edge technology comes at a steep cost, and performance may suffer in at least one important area.

In discussing the stunning new display on the Galaxy S6 in our review, we mentioned that the crystal-clear screen is impressive, but likely also a bit of overkill — quad HD resolution on a 5.1-inch display results in pixels that are far more dense than anything the human eye can discern.

As it turns out, packing quad HD resolution into the Galaxy S6’s screen also comes at a price.

Apple blog AppleInsider recently conducted a series of performance tests on the Galaxy S6 and compared the results to Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. With “just” a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, Apple’s iPhones are often viewed as being a bit behind the times by gadget enthusiasts who put too much credence in specs on paper.

Of course, we’ve seen time and time again that when it comes to Apple’s iPhones, specs on paper only tell a small part of the story.

Now we’re seeing the same old story unfold once again. The Galaxy S6 packs a bleeding-edge octa-core Exynos processor, 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and lightning fast UFS 2.0 flash memory. But since all of that tech has to support a quad HD display, graphics performance takes a significant hit as a result.

As we can clearly see in the graphics performance test results above, the 720p and 1080p displays on Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus allow for graphics performance that crushes Samsung’s new flagship smartphone. And while people who haven’t used either new iPhone in the past might assume the picture quality on Apple devices suffers as a result, anyone who has actually tried either phone knows that this simply isn’t the case.

Have fun with your Apple Hate and Bashing Thread. . . based on falsehoods. (See above graphics benchmarks for definitive proof.) This is the limit of my participation in this thread and I will not be pinging the Apple Ping list for your bashing fun. . . and no, it is not evidence of cowardice.

Mad_as_He$$, may I suggest you start an Android Ping List such as DayGloRed started a Microsof/Windows Ping list recently?

There seems that there is genuine interest in the subject. . . even without the juvenile Apple/iPhone/iPad/Mac bashing. It would be a more constructive use of your time. . . and offer a Freeper public service. I will be glad to advise you on how set it up and manage the list. Think about it. FreeRepublic could use an Android Ping list.
