I was going to cut and paste exact posts from y'all, because all have abbreviated posts from one another, but decided to not waste the bandwidth.

I'm sorry to be repetitious, but like I've already said, I go out of my way to avoid the RF because I see more nastiness and hatred expressed here, and allegedly all in the name of “debate”....”whose church/religion trumps the others, whose scripture is factual, whose religion is a cult, and who's going to Hell.”

It's really a shame that the RF can't be blocked from appearing on the latest comments page, because that way those of us who wish to avoid it would never have to see a comment that "baits." Easy peasy to ignore an article listed on the latest article's page.

As for “keeping your opinions to yourself if you're not willing to support Free Republic,” which boatbums posted, with which mlizzy and Brian Kopp DPM took issue for their valid reasons, I can only say that Free Republic is solely funded by our membership and if the day comes that we can no longer reach our monetary goals/needs, Jim will shut it down, so it's really up to all of us whether we want Free Republic or not.

My choice is easy. Like boatbums, I love FR, so I am a Monthly Donor. My only regret is that this RF has hardened my heart by changing my view of some people I previously thought I knew.

According to the RM's homepage:

If you do not wish to see RF posts, do NOT use the "everything" option on the Free Republic browse option list. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."

This should keep you from being offended by us.

Maybe a new thread initiated by you (since you work so very hard for Free Republic and people respect you so much) could straight-away ask folks why they have been slower with donations. Some people might be out of work, sick, or afraid of the future because the country is in such a mess, etc., but if the way the religion forum is being run was an issue to them, maybe some changes could be made. I wouldn't be here if I didn't love Free Republic as well. There's no site on the Net that gives you all the news, all the time, with keen, and very funny commentary to boot, to keep one's spirits lifted.

But some of the posts on the religion forum have nothing to do with debate, just hate. It's all about intent.
