Before my first checkup, I was terrified. She had already explained the procedure. Then, her assistant put drops in my eye to deaden it and then wet a q-tip with the same solution and stuck that in my eye. He kept asking if I could feel anything and I kep saying yes, so he would add more. I sure did not want to feel a thing. I am odd that way. I hate having anything done to my eyes anyway. It really was not that bad, though. Thanks. You made me lol.
I’ve had BOTH retinas re-attached.
I had NO clue as to what the results would be.
I have good vision (other than crummy len’s and a touch of cataract) now.
But the doc told me that the new laser treatment could not reach around far enough in my eyes to tack weld them back in place, and the old freezing procedure would be used. A small probe is pressed against the eyeball and a very fine blast of liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the retina to the outer surface. It will then regrow to it.
Let me tell you; if offered the painkiller afterward; do NOT be a macho dude and refuse it!
It’s right up there with kidney stones!!!
I'll be praying for you MamaB that all goes well and you have a complete healing and return of your vision.
