That’s what I see happening now. Again. It’s far more exciting to read something sensational about the Dunhams, written by someone who is a master of the craft of tabloid journalism, than to follow the hard-won facts turned up by searchers for the few facts available to us.

You think he would have written CIA agent on his wedding license? ( It doesn’t work that way). Real estate as well as a small business allows one to create their own work schedule
I’m NOT saying he wasn’t helpful to the CIA in some way, you were fighting the evil empire at the time, and any red blooded American would have been available. I’m trying to say take care with how much of that sensationalism you swallow from a master of the craft of pot-boiler journalism. He’s selling you a book. And while you chase a thousand people across Hawaii and their family history, the quarry escapes you. It doesn’t take you any closer to who he is and where he came from, who his parents were or when he was born.
Hey, but it will sell a few more books.

I guess it never seemed important at the time to get an image from the archives of the page the Pratt Furniture Store might have been listed on, nor their address. It wasn't known at the time that the Dunhams shared the house with his employer. I think the first we heard of that was from Maraniss.

Have been looking into the credentials of the author of the book. Pretty good background for an investigative reporter. When I went to amazon today. His book popped up at the top of my list Good reviews there. It can also be downloaded on e books

I’m thinking about giving this thread a miss, I’ve posted plenty of sources as have you, which establish where some of these people lived and where they worked, and in your case, you’ve clearly shown their business names and who they married. I’ve gone back to year dot and tried to explain who owned the house and who lived there, how many bedrooms it had...and outbuildings.
And that Ann S Obama, Anna Obama and Stanley Ann Dunham were NOT the same person.
It’s a waste of time, none of that is sensational enough compared to chasing Bank failures and who did or didn’t belong to the CIA.
Ping me if something new comes along, that doesn’t require explaining to newbies who Alice Dewey was and how she recently went to Indonesia to meet the royal family and assured the Indonesians that zero was doing all he could to kill capitalism.
If the CIA was active in Hawaii it’s no surprise. Someone had to keep their eye on the communists of the day.
