Who married the residents Kalawao county? Do marriage records exist?
Good question. The only county official is the sheriff. There’s no clerk, treasurer etc. There are/were four churches on the island All legal actions seem to have been done thru the HI health department with their head automatically appointed the mayor of the community.
But yes marriages did happen.
Thanks for posting a link to the divorce papers. Has anyone mentioned that upon marriage, Stanley Ann took ‘Obama’ as her surname? I’ve followed these threads for years and never saw that underscored.
It’s also been documented by, among other places, the fine research on TheBirtherFile/ObamaReleaseYourRecords, that she called herself Anna during at least part of her college days. Add that to the fact that the credits earned at UW, Seattle, by ‘Anna Obama’ were applied to Stanley Ann’s transcript—and in fact enabled her to earn her undergraduate degree—and a big part of the ‘mystery’ is cleared up.

Called Kalawao County, Hawaii’s fifth county included the peninsula of Kalaupapa on the north side of the island of Molokai and a portion of the steep cliff face overlooking this area, and perhaps a bit of the land near the top of East end of the cliffs. The district/county lines continue to the east through very rough country and eventually back down to the Pacific.
This area was set aside very early on, in the 1880’s, as a colony for sufferers of Hansen’s Disease, Leprosy. It is where Father Damien (now Blessed Damien) worked. It was created as a county along with the other four Hawaii counties in 1905. It unusual in that it was administered as a separate County by the Department of Health. Thus it has had special status from its creation.
Several decades ago the old county lines became district lines, and this political area was absorbed into Maui county as one of its new judicial districts. An authoritative map published in 1983 already clearly shows the old county lines as district lines and as part of Maui County. So this fifth county does not seem to exist today, at least not in terms of political geography.
Prior to its conversion to a judicial district in Maui county, it was perhaps the rarest county in the United States for county hunters. Population in that area had dwindled to few hundred at most. The area at the top of the cliffs was pasture land. The district line scims along just below the edge of the cliff. Older maps the UHM library map collection show the county clearly and seem to confirm that the older county lines are exactly the same as the modern district lines.

Just occurred to me SADO was not educated on the island so she would not have been taught state history or geography. She also did not have the benefit of a PC to look things up. Her improper and corrected location answers may be a result of these deficits

Worth more digging Was Fuddy of Maddy involved in any way in the trust? Was the trust under her direction as head of the trust department of her bank? Sure raises some questions. Nice size administrative fees if either was involved?

Actually, since we can’t really believe anything about him, there’s no “evidence” of anything. Even documents received by FOIA are suspect. Some “evidence” of a marriage are the very suspect birth announcement (that mentions “Mrs.” with no first name); the INS records that mention Stanley Ann as his wife (but who may give her child up for adoption); the “index records” from Hawaii that name Stanley Ann as a bride and BHO Sr. as a groom (do these records represent a marriage or merely a license?); and images said to have come from city directories that mention a woman surnamed Obama. Obama is also a Japanese name and there are many Asians living in Hawaii as well as Seattle.
Is this leading to the suggestion that the boy’s real mother was from the leper colony?

Just pointing it out. Could be many possibilities, including a way to get someone into the country and even get the child a Hawaiian birth record or something written down in the archives, in 1961 or any time afterwards, including up to 2007. How would anyone know there was “something” written down in the archives unless they went looking for it at some point in time, either to find it or to create it to be used as “evidence” for creation of a late birth certificate? Fuddy would have known about this, given her background and her stepmother.

Clearly see a date that says March 24 1965, so assume that’s the filing date of the marriage. Looks like 1965 it was. The date of the copy is July 1971? Interesting timing.
Since the “mistake” she made on her passport actually appears to have been an actual date of some marriage event (her DIVORCE date from BHO Sr.), then it’s possible that she had a brain freeze and wrote that date instead of her marriage date to Lolo, especially given that both ALLEGEDLY happened in March. On the other hand, it might be the people rigging up the records who got their storylines confused.

The date on the BHO Sr. divorce is March 5, not 8. Copies distort the image.

Nothing’s cleared up. She used innumerable names and variations on them throughout the years, if we’re to believe the documents presented as evidence. Sutoro. Soetoro. S. Ann. Ann. Stanley Ann. Shirley Ann. Stanley Ann Dunham. Stanley Ann Dunham Obama. Ann Sutoro. There’s no clearing up of the mystery. Not in my opinion.
You mention an interesting point. Human beings have LEGAL names. Why would she be allowed to register for college under a name other than the one on her identification documents?
