Wintry storm smacks an already battered Northeast

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A wintry storm dropped snow on the U.S. Northeast on Wednesday and threatened to bring dangerous winds and flooding to a region still climbing out from the devastation of Superstorm Sandy. The nor'easter storm added misery to thousands of people whose homes were destroyed by Sandy, which killed 120 people when it smashed ashore on October 29 in the New York-New Jersey area, swallowing entire neighborhoods with rising seawater and blowing homes from their foundations.

A year after the tornado that devastated Joplin, MO a lot of it is re-built and those poor people are going about their lives.
Years after Katrina poor New Orleans—man, they still can’t seem to get their act together. Maybe they need more money or celebrities or HBO specials.

Part of Conservatism is concept of individual choice and responsibility. The NE made a choice, and has been choosing it for years. They have chosen to be dependent on Government for aide and support. Who am I to deny them their choice?

I respect their choice and will allow them the individual freedom to fully real the consequences of those choices. However, Conservatism also states that I am limited to the consequences of my choices, and freedom from theirs.

I don't believe in collective guilt any more than I believe in collective salvation, and I, for one, hope that this new storm doesn't cause much grief. A tropical storm, last night's election results and a winter storm are not a sequence that anybody needs.

I'm from the Midwest where we face tornados and floods all of the time. How many times did people from the NE hop in their cars or trucks to come out to the Midwest to help us dig our and rebuild, actually I can tell you before you scratch your head wondering -NEVER!

You missed all those pick-ups from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and the rest of New England hauling in water and ice and sandbags and salt and other supplies during the Tennessee floods and Kentucky ice storms?

If it’s not my church or local community they are on their own. No more charity aside from what I mentioned. As a producer I have a bulls eye on my back and am expected to pay for anything and everything the takers want through confiscatory taxes at the threat of jail or gun point.
