It seems that activity in these blogs and in the letters forums certainly picked up when discussing the fortunes of the former governor of Alaska. We leftists were spared no amount of scorn and ridicule due to our criticism of Sarah Palin. Of course it was never made to clear how our criticism of Palin is any different from the vitriol directed towards Nancy Pelosi or Barbara Boxer in these same forums, but that is another topic.
I am writing this post, because today just might mark a key turning point in the political fortunes of Sarah Palin. It would seem that we folks on the left are no longer the only ones who are starting to grow a tad weary of her.
Redstate.com is a conservative, even borderline hard-core right wing web site. The proprietor is a man named Erick Erickson who today expressed his own frustration with Palin's ongoing will-she or won't-she run saga that makes Hamlet look downright decisive. But the point is that he did not do it with straight-ahead political commentary, he used the kind of mocking ridicule he usually reserves for liberals.
When the head honcho of a leading conservative website is openly mocking you, perhaps your 4 years and 15 minutes of fame is almost over? Anyway, that's my last word on the former governor. If right wing websites are making fun of her, there is nothing else for us leftists to say, except that once again Mark Twain was proven right when he said, "it is the radical who creates the ideas, then when those ideas are worn out, the conservative adopts them".
So to all of you die hard Palin fans out there, it is no longer just us leftists for whom Palin is more annoying than anything else. Take a look and see what at least one fellow conservative has to say about Palin. Also note how he refers to her supporters as a "cult".
We leftists should now just shut up about Palin. Conservatives have adopted yet another one of our ideas. I know I am breaking my own rule about citing opinion blogs as sources. But when my point is that a specific opinion is no longer exclusive to the left, it somehow seems appropriate.

BREAKING NEWS: PALIN SUPPORTERS CLAIM SHE NEVER SAID IT OR MEANT IT OR SOMETHING
There is movement within the cult. They are mad as hell at us for pointing out Governor Palin set this as her own drop dead date.
I’m with you on your choices.
I was confused because I remember you as a strong Palin supporter, and then there was a Sarah Barracuda posting about how Palin would eventually endorse Perry. I think it’s becoming clear that whatever she does, she won’t be endorsing Perry.
Yes, that’s a good analogy. Sums it up nicely.
I don’t want to guess but hoping I
make the top 100 if not the top 1/2 dozen ;-)
Why would you think that, when she's been doing and saying everything that a presidential candidate does and says, over the last year?
If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it's pretty well certain that it's a duck.
Regarding the question of, "Will she/Won't she?", she has to say that she's "still thinking about it" to keep the curtain pulled on what she's actually doing.
In truth, she really had to make her decision well over a year ago, and she did. Here's the proof: If she'd decided to stay out of the race, she would have told her supporters, so that they could focus their time, attention, and energies on another candidate of their choice.
That said, once she decided to run, she was faced with a second choice - what sort of strategy to employ in seeking the office of president. She's savvy enough to know that someone with her name recognition and massive grass roots support doesn't need to declare early in the process, as many others have to do.
In fact, it's actually detrimental to any candidate to declare early, but most are forced to, because they need to achieve widespread name recognition, build widespread support, attract donors, and spread their message. Someone like Palin already has all that, so doesn't need to open themselves up to attack and meat grinder analysis by the media or their opponents.
Reagan declared later in the process for the same reasons. Why spend monies on running a campaign or expend the energy defending oneself, when you're achieving all the benefits of a campaign on the sidelines for free?
Her campaign strategy is Big League Politics 101.
Duck 2012. :D
Duck / Cain.
Of course. I agree with her statements 100%. If it were up to me alone to anoint the next POTUS............it would be SARAH!
But that’s just it. It’s not up to me. It’s up to millions of Americans out there like you and I. Millions of Americans who need to see something real, a commitment, a willingness to lay it on the line and press ahead.
Romney has a lot of flaws for sure. But, as candidate for POTUS in 2008, he was stabbed in the back by Huck in an end-around for McCain. He took it, quietly (no Twitter or Facebook or “tell alls”) in the meaning years, and rebuilt his organization. He’s done the heavy lifting that NO ONE else has done and he’s back again for 2012. That perseverance is admirable to me. He and his record have been very clear and open for all for many years now.
Vetted? Nobody has been “vetted” like Romney has over the last 4 years. Nobody. Palin is a lay kitten in terms of being vetted. Palinistas, stop whining. Romney’s had the anal exam of all anal exams. I think everyone can agree on that. Skeletons left in his closet? Please, do forward.
Hate it, but as a state’s rightist, a state should be largely left alone to do as it sees so. Abortion, RomneyCare...........for the people of Massachusetts..........okay. For the people of Montana or Texas or Florida? May well be very different. Good and fine. That’s what our Constitution was meant to do.
Ultimate Madisonian-ism.................that is all.
Yeah that’s the other girl..you can tell the difference right away because even though our user names are very similar, hers is one word(SarahBarracuda) while mine has a space between Sarah and Barracuda :-) I think if she chooses not to run, she will endorse Cain..she is really fond of him and speaks highly of him so I think she would endorse him if she chose not to run, but I still hope she does end up running but that’s her choice. She can take all the time she needs, Im not one of those who say “Hurry up and make up your mind already” its a big decision, and her life has been changed forever since she ran with McCain so I can understand her wanting to take her time with this
Interesting approach to pro-Romney disinformation propaganda.
You start out pretending to be for Palin, then reveal you are actually a Romney plant.
Gosh. That’s certainly subtle.
Vetted? Nobody has been vetted like Romney has over the last 4 years. Nobody. Palin is a lay kitten in terms of being vetted.
______________________________________________________________
LOl! That was funny! Yeah, none has been vetted like Palin who still has books and movies coming out about her.
When was the last Romney expose?
LOL!
Seriously thanks for the laugh!
I agree, excellent post.
Especially the part about: Hurry up and make up your mind already
Thanks.
“Vetted? Nobody has been vetted like Romney has over the last 4 years. Nobody. Palin is a lay kitten in terms of being vetted. Palinistas, stop whining. Romneys had the anal exam of all anal exams. I think everyone can agree on that. Skeletons left in his closet? Please, do forward.”
It’s safe to say your credibility just went soaring out the window. When Rom gets his Gov emails rifled, please get back to me.
Erick Erickson is not above selling his opinions for influence. We saw that with the “my bosses at Eagle” email, and we’re seeing it again with the way he has gone completely in the tank for Perry after Perry announced at the Redstate convention.
When you look at how many people actually comment on their threads, it’s relatively very few. The posters that are left are “yes-men”. Poster’s who don’t agree with Erick are held to a much higher standard, and usually end up banned.
I don’t know how he managed to get the website viewed as “influential”. It’s not even in the top 20 conservative websites as measured by web traffic.
The stunt today was extremely juvenile. He’s just upset Palin won’t give him the time of day.
LOL!
Please fax me a bag of whatever you’re smoking!
Red State has been doing a Palin watch today....HILARIOUS!
Dunno 2DV, seems like whatever it it zapped his reality circuits pretty good. Then again, throw on some Iron Butterfly and you’d be back in 1968 without the Acid ;)
There's no good reason to fail to meet one's own deadline. It adds fuel to the "lacks commitment" notion about Palin.
So go on MSNBC and complain to other liberals as you share and repeat their talking points. FR is a Conservative website supporting conservative candidates, people and philosophy. Note the difference.
PS...Rick Parry PROMISED his VOTERS in Texas he would not run if reelected. Have you railed on him? Just curious.
Unfortunately the winners (read: makers) only get one vote, just like the leeches (read:takers). I agree with your analysis however.
Amen.
