I would have have liked to see Rush take a stand and dig in on this issue back when we first raised it -- before the swearing-in. He has dabbled a little recently. But he really should have had our backs in the time before the term "birther" was coined. However ... and it is a big "however" ... it is much more entertaining to watch the Donald have it. And, perhaps, his point of view holds more weight coming from a voice that is decidedly non-conservative on a number of issues. It doesn't really matter how the subterfuge is revealed, as long as it is revealed.

Uh... his citizenship IS the issue. There are two kinds of citizens: Natural born, and naturalized. The former is a citizen by virtue of their birth and the latter is granted citizenship later in life. If Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 he’s a natural born citizen, according to 8 USC 1401.

If he was born in Kenya instead... it gets a bit murkier and there might be a problem. There’s no real evidence that he was born in Kenya, aside from some wishful beliefs by some Kenyans that it was so. And to me it seems logistically very unlikely that a ~very~ pregnant Stanley Ann Dunham managed to travel to Kenya in 1961 only to have the baby and return... why? It’s not like travel to Africa back then was as easy as it is now. Travelling to Africa in those days was likely a week-long journey of various planes, trains and automobiles. You didn’t just board a jet in Honolulu for a direct flight to Nairobi. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

It would be great fun if Obama wasn’t eligible. Actually... it would make for a pretty nasty constitutional crisis. But so far, from what I’ve seen... I don’t think that’s how it shakes out. I saw the governor of Hawaii declare that Obama was born in Hawaii. Well, I may have a birth certificate but I ~don’t~ have a personal statement from a sitting governor attesting to my birth. Congress has certified the election. It’s ~decided~, barring some good evidence to the contrary, and that just doesn’t seem to be forthcoming.

The only thing to do now is get that little bastard out of there in 2012.

The woman in question called Rush, chewed him out and then hung up. He never laid a verbal glove on her.

He tried to gloss over the issue by saying it was started by the Democrats so he couldn’t trust it. It was a very weak argument. I’m not a hard-core birther, but I want to see Obama made to tell the truth. Rush had his chance to help make that happen — before the election — and didn’t do it. The caller was absolutely correct.

I listened to that episode. Rush would need to explain why he never touched it and I think he did. He is more concerned with Obama’s take-down of a Free America than wondering his roots. He has calculated that Obams’s directive is much more harmful than any sucess in Obama’s roots.

I suspect Rush and others were pressured into not to covering the BC issue.

It's a matter of credibility and that's one thing that keeps Rush Limbaugh at the top and why he has so many listeners. Many of the AM radio conservative hosts. I do not believe he had to be pressure to avoid talking about the BC. It was his choice. It all comes down to credibility.

That being said, I'm sure in Rush's mind he too is as suspicious and you are or the so-called "birthers". He's just not willing to turn his radio show into an investigative "coast to coast"like format when he has to deal with so many issues each day.

You can rest assured that Limbaugh will indeed push the story once something of hard substance comes out and I'm sure he's hoping for it everyday.

Until then, he uses Trump as his way of talking about what "people claim" in order to keep the "birther" issue in the spotlight as much as possible.

Even better was the woman on Rush today....

Rush got it wrong....and I must say he just lost a fan...what with his "99.6% accuracy and bombastic nonesense.

1. He still doesn't know what a "Natural Born Citizen" is

2. He ignored the fact the Obama's father was British so he was also at birth.

3. He doesn't know who certifies the presidentian and VP candidates.

3a...Someone send him the two sets of certification documents the Nancy Pelosi generated....you know...the ones with the same typo though instead of "through" in the second line towards the end.

When someone pings me Rush picks up on the above I will start listening again.

We want to know more. We should have known more before election.

Why can’t the truth prevail?

I didn’t listen to Rush until George W. Bush was president, but I know he went after Clinton on scandals. He still talks about the Lewinsky affair often, but not the BC.

You should post that stuff here...

http://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump

That’s where the “birthers” and “birther” investigators are going and also the birther bashers.

I use the word “birther” only because it’s faster and a shorter way to describe “Americans who care about the US Constition when it comes to the Presidency”.

Last I heard, Trump is at the top of the list among “birthers” and second among Tea Party and he’s now moving in claiming also to be a “tea party” supporter.

the same goes for Gov. Palin.

Exactly, Sarah has learned to pick her battles, and learned very quickly.

That is the reason that I always pick Palin, she is a true warrior, brilliance, strength, adaptability, and courage. Describes Reagan, too.

Big smelly deal, so one caller called and chewed him out for something that got under her skin.

Despite the very serious nature of this whole controversy, I have thought of it as an extremely dangerous issue to obsess over. It is a complete credibility killer. It murdered Orly Taiz. It is hurting Glenn Beck. Not that either of those two are pristine or fault-free.

There is certain wisdom in staying out of battles that are deadly, and I’ve always thought this was fraught with peril.

You don’t get be Rush Limbaugh by reacting to every harebrained idea that floats in on the breeze. Smart tacticians are looking far down the road, not just the next move, but the move after that and the move after that. There were plenty of zealots pursuing this from many years ago, and indeed, when I first heard of it, Berg was on it with full-on legal seriousness. If there was any “there” there, he seemed eminently qualified to ferret it out. As it turned out, he got smoked.

4, .... RUSH: It was Chester Arthur who people thought might have been born in Canada rather than in Vermont. The only other example of a president questioned on his eligibility based on place of birth, Chester Alan Arthur. People thought he was born in Canada.

True but incomplete...

THERE WAS A GUY TRYING FOR PRESIDENCY FROM BLACK PANTHERS WHO WAS YOUNGER THAN 44....he was rejected as not complying with the Constitution.

I started listening to Rush during GWB's father's Presidency.

I stopped when he endorsed Clinton.

Years later during the 2000 Campaign I started listening again only to find out he was only kidding that day when he endorsed Clinton. LOL!

Well then why in hell pretend we follow the Constitution when we let an an issue like this fall to the side?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hm?. Why?

Rush and the rest are entertainers
Rush and the rest are phonies.
Rush and the rest care more about their bank accounts than they do the Constitution.
Rush and the rest care more about being populate with the elite than they do about the Constitution.

Who knows?

Personally, I've been disgusted with Rush and the other weenies since the beginning. Angela was spot on! There was plenty of neutral facts to report regarding Obama’s eligibility. Until Jan 2011, Rush refused to report those facts, Instead he took less than five minutes in 2 full years of his copious show time to use the Constitution as a backdrop to lob his joke. Yuk!Yuk! /s

But...Unlike Coulter, Beck, and Medved, at least Rush wasn't mean spirited, petty, and insulting to the birthers. If Rush continues to report on Obama’s eligibility with reasonable seriousness, I'll forgive him. ( Not that he cares.)
