(From 6 months ago but still relevant) Bumbling bureaucrats attack successful homeschoolers. Liberty

Fans of 42% effective government schools come after homeschools for only being 99% effective.

Here's how to keep up to date with Homeschooler Michelle's concerns:

Speaking of liars.....

From your homepage.....

http://www.freerepublic.com/~napscoordinator/

“I have been a Republican since 18 and find myself in agreement with their positions. I am for fair tax across the board (either national sales tax or flat tax), small government, strong defense, can’t stand federalizing the education system it should be either state run school systems or local.”

In favor of small government? But you still what people to answer to them for your concept of success of homeschooling.

Liar yourself.

Aren’t in favor of federalizing education? Then what standard are you proposing to compare homeschoolers to to determine the success or failure of the education of their children?

Liar yourself, again......

Gotta love it.

The hypocrisy is palatable.

He slams one FReeper for pinging others and then blows another FReeper into the mods in an effort to control the debate.

>>There is no other place better equipped for success than Catholic Schools. <<

LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
Are you crazy? I did my eight years in Catholic Schools, the went to PS and turned everyone on to my Catholic dope suppliers. Catholics schools are great for the first four years. After that, they are the same as public schools, except for one thing, if you are the target in Catholic school, you have eight years of it.
Some of the worst kids I know are in Catholic School.
That being said, Catholic Homeschoolers are successful.
Mass everyday and good Catholic upbringing. A Catholic HOME is the place that best equips kids.

>>And nationalized and standardized tests are a joke; an absolute farce.<<

Standardized tests are provided by the book manufacturers. If you don’t use “their” books, you don’t get “their” information, so our kids do poorly on “their” tests. My kids would get a lower grade at grade level, EVENTHOUGH they are two years ahead, because they were taught with Alpha Omega’s Switched on Schoolhouse. They would probably even do poorly on the math, depending on the wording of the word problems.

It’s a scam....according to my PS teacher sister.

Meet my 6th grade CATHOLIC school daughter and her friends and then get back to me. They are some of the sweetest kids you’ll ever know.

I know you would throw a hissy fit if someone used the broad brush against all homeschoolers, and so would I. I love homeschooling. I have homeschooled. I have friends who do it.

Like a lot of homeschooling families, we sacrifice a lot to give our kids a good education. Why in the world do homeschoolers want to turn on the good private schools out there? My husband and I are actively involved in both the school and the church.

I spent 9 years in Catholic schools and can’t remember any of the stuff you described. It may have been 20 years ago, but I remember it fondly. I’m not saying there are no problematic Catholic schools—I know there are (I can think of one in our town even, which is why my kids aren’t there). Ours is a good conservative parish with full attendance at several Masses each weekend, Perpetual Adoration, long lines at confession, larger families, and several young men preparing for the priesthood. They went to the Catholic school associated with our church. I guess that makes them damaged goods in your eyes.

But then again, if it makes you feel good to smugly sit behind your computer and look down at the rest of us poor schmucks with our kids in Catholic school, have at it. Just remember we are supposed to be on the same side. I guess we just don’t love our kids as much as you do. Must be wonderful to have the lock on perfection.

The catholic school in my itty bitty home town only went through 6th grade so the students would start 7th grade in the public school. I remember the first few days of 7th grade and the shock the catholic students gave me. They were so wild. We never had any problems until they showed up.

My answer was a response to this.

>>There is no other place better equipped for success than Catholic Schools<<

I’m sure your daughter and her friends are very nice. I also know that Catholic schools are breeding grounds for the same secular problems as Public Schools. Fantastic you found a good one, now stop with the “you insulted me” whine. It’s unbecoming when someone personalized another’s experience. That’s MY years of Catholic School, my nieces and nephews who went through the 90’s, and my Goddaughter that graduated three years ago. Hellsbells, you even state there is a bad Catholic school near you, for Heaven’s sake.

So, don’t bother to rant to me. Catholic schools are not bubbles of sainthood.

>>But then again, if it makes you feel good to smugly sit behind your computer and look down at the rest of us poor schmucks with our kids in Catholic school, have at it. Just remember we are supposed to be on the same side. I guess we just don’t love our kids as much as you do. Must be wonderful to have the lock on perfection.<<

I have no clue where this bit of victimhood came from. Trust me, you do no more sacrificing for your kid’s education than anyone using Seton or Kolbe. Time to step back from the computer and evaluate who’s side YOU’RE on. Because while I might have ‘insulted’ Catholic schools, You got personal. Nice. Is that part of your “Faith Formation”?

It’s not just Catholic schools! I went to one Christian private school that had some really wild happenings. Then I went to another that was much better. It had a lot to do with how stringent the schools’ admissions requirements were.

Anyway, I found a lot of friends from school on FB, and was surprised how many homeschool, more than half.
