Learned that the hard way. Was putting a friends child into a rear car seat and put the thing on the roof. You know the rest. Oooh, ouch!
I too bounced my first generation off the pavement. It survived without a scratch. But from that day forward it had a good case on it.

I was already up to speed when I heard it richocheting around the rack mounts. I knew what it was immediately and got to see it fly off in the rear view mirror. It still worked but the case and glass were pretty scratched up. We did have a chuckle when I went to the Apple store and asked them to look the other way.
It seems I still hadn't learned after losing buchoo prescription sunglasses when my daughter was young. C'est la vie.
