U.S. Marines boot recruits with Confederate tattoos

A widely regarded Southern symbol of pride and states' rights is standing in the way of would-be Marines in their quest to serve their country – a Confederate battle flag.

Straight out of high school, one 18-year-old Tennessee man was determined to serve his country as a Marine. His friend said he passed the pre-enlistment tests and physical exams and looked forward with excitement to the day he would ship out to boot camp.

But there would be no shouting drill instructors, no rigorous physical training and no action-packed stories for the aspiring Marine to share with his family.

Shortly before he was scheduled to leave Nashville for boot camp, the Marine Corps rejected him.

Now, the young man, who wishes to remain unnamed and declined to be interviewed, has chosen to return to school and is no longer an aspiring Marine.

"I think he just wants to let it go," said former Marine 1st Lt. Gene Andrews, a friend of the man and patriotic Southerner who served in Vietnam from 1968 through 1971. Andrews is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a group of male descendents of Confederate soldiers. He counseled the young man when he decided to become a Marine.

"He had been talking to me, and he was all fired up about joining," he told WND. "He asked my opinion of it, and I just tried to tell him the truth, good points and bad points."

When the young recruit didn't go to boot camp, Andrews learned of his rejection based on his tattoo of the Confederate battle flag on his shoulder.

Did minutemen kill United States Marines?

The one inescapable fact about the Confederacy no one and ever refute is that the confederacy was created to continue a system where ANY MAN, WOMAN, OR CHILD COULD BE SOLD INTO SLAVERY.

You got it ass-backwards once again....King of England wanted the colonists to be silent slaves to his treasury without representation, counted only to maintain his monetary and political power. The English left with their tails between their legs till they could regroup and come back to impose tyranny again in 1812 rather than accept the terms of their surrender to the United States.

Jeff Davis, Bobby Lee and other defeated DUmocrats followed exactly what the King of England did, maintain slavery by force. They wanted slaves to be counted in order to maintain their money and political power in D.C. while leaving all the people (not just the slaves) with no voice in a representative government. They formed the KKK to reimpose thier tyranny rather than accept the terms of surrender.

Now the modern day DUmocrat want all citizens to be slaves to their political power. Jackass DUmocrats (and the Copperheads who protect their criminal enterprise) are who they have always been...eventually they will be spanked again, regardless of what battle rag they choose to march under.

The United States took the initiative in declaring war for multiple reasons. In 1807, Britain introduced a series of trade restrictions to impede on-going American trade with France, Britain's long-time rival.

I know about the press gangs, Indian wars etc, but the point is the US fired the first shots.

In other words, the USA took umbrage at economic sanctions, and took to arms. Just like the Japanese did in WWII at Pearl harbor.

Who was it that started that war again?

Granted the above is from Wiki, but for general information it's as accurate as any. Once it gets political, that's another story, I'll grant.

Are you aware that the Crown offered emancipation to any slaves who would remain loyal to the British? The first American emancipation proclamation was issued by Lord Dunmore, Royal Governor of Virginia, in November of 1775.

I would think that the Confederacy haters and the Lincoln cult should likewise venerate Dunmore and King George III, who fought a losing battle against rebels and secessionists.

The Constitution was a contract between all of the States. The States could leave the Union if their rights were violated; ie the contract was violated. In particular, it was the 10th Amendment that was violated. FYI James Madison,a Virginian is regarded as the author of he Bill of Rights.

I’m sorry, but that’s just not true. I have journals, letters, and diaries, handed down from generation to generation. Maybe I should scan some of them for you to read. Maybe for some Southerners the Confederacy was about keeping slaves, but for most it was NOT. You act like ALL that fought owned slaves and you are just wrong.

James Madison might well be regarded as the author of the whole Constitution, and he wrote, "...I do not consider the proceedings of Virginia in ’98-’99 as countenancing the doctrine that a state may at will secede from its Constitutional compact with the other States. A rightful secession requires the consent of the others, or an abuse of the compact, absolving the seceding party from the obligations imposed by it."

An invalid precedent because all you Lost Causers insist that your actions were legal, while Jefferson and the rest of our Founding Father's knew their actions were illegal and they would have to fight for their independence.
