There is also a statement in the early version of the video interview which got removed at some point which indicates that the baby is the wrong color to be three weeks old at the time of the visit.

The Susan Blake interview was edited at least once during the course of the debate. At one of the very early stages, someone noted a comment by her concerning the color of the baby and a doctor in the baby-delivery business posted a comment to the effect that the color condition she described would have been expected to change before the end of the first week after birth.

That was very very early in the discussion. I wasn't really focused on maintaining any kind of a record of facts and events at that point.

And as I think about it, there were two interviews--the other one was another mutual Seattle friend of Stanley Ann's and Blake's and that comment may have come from her; and her interview was somewhat more detailed than Blake's--I only saw it once and fairly shortly went back to look at it again and it was gone.

As to Albertafriend's comment to which this post is really addressed, the answer is that those are less usual conditions. Odds are that for a birth in a remote colony of the British Empire, in Africa; a normal healthy baby is likely to have been delivered as early in the day as possible so that the mother can get out and back to work in the afternoon.

What can I say. Stanley Ann was healthy and the course of events suggests to me that she was motivated to get the kid back to Hawaii as soon as possible. The testimony of the two missionaries was that she had some urgency about the return.

Your testimony about mother's maybe not learning to change diapers right away is very interesting but my own limited observation is that it happens pretty fast--my baby delivery doctor friends all say much less than 48 hours.
